After getting my insurance rescored our auto came down almost $900 a year. House portion stayed the same which is understandable. But at least I can stay with my current insurer

^^^ basically that. I'm not fully sure what it entails. I had basically asked my broker after our policy had gone up a few times if he could review or shop around and he is who had the company "rescore". Another reason why I stay with him. Very responsive and helpful.

 

My business insurance went up 30% and I asked them why. The broker asked me if I wanted to find a lower priced policy for me.

Auto stayed the same. Home only went up 50% thanks to fire hazard and general severe weather zone. ??? Maybe Excel will cover their share of the increase ,...No way in Hell that would ever happen. Time for the PUC to grow a spine and dismantle the monopoly.

 

I had a rescore too, didnt change much, and i learned that if your roof is 10+ years old it makes your rate higher, compared to if you have newer roof.
I guess the insurance companies are sure theyll have to replace an
older roof before a newer roof
I mean hail damage is hail damage no matter the age of a roof.

 

That's strange because they are starting to prorate roofs too. Meaning they'll say you got 1/3 of your roof's life so here's a 2/3 of the replacement cost.
Should be cheaper but crooks are gonna crook I guess.

 

When I sold my house in Aurora in 2020 I had excessive "granule loss" when it was inspected and needed half the roof replaced. I was told by the roofer to submit a warranty claim who was confident would be prorated and cost would be very minimal.. it covered 100 bucks.. I would of just done a claim through insurance had I known, going the warranty route boned me.

I was just told by my broker if i had a newer roof i would have more options, as far as insurance companies.

 

this came up last month. “We can’t get fire insurance for a fire station manned by firefighters. That’s crazy.”
