Fantastic trip plan. Do this trip! We do this circuit about once a year. It's a blast if you are a desert Fossil kinda person. Tons of camping along this route. You really don't even need to plan it. It's basically blm the entire route.

Do not skip the badlands or Wall Drug Store!!!

We're "hail-checking" as the damage evaluation is taking longer than anticipated, there is a faint but distinct possibility they'll want to total it (which he says is actually NBD for hail damage in CO? No title brand?). Not out of the woods yet but I am glad to have some more time for planning a bit! I was going to skip that route as I changed gears and decided to swing south and visit my old man for fathers day; but, heading north is back on the menu!

I didn’t realize they’d gotten back together until last year. Have a colleague that mentioned he also saw them at RR, then proceeded to tell me he went to school at OK State with all of them lol.

What would cause drum brakes to self adjust to the point it locks up the wheel?
Like just the driver side, passenger side is fine.

Using the Emergency brake can perform a self adjust. that is a "feature" on our 3rd gen T4R

yep. Problem is driver side is self adjusting into oblivion. Like adjusting waaaaaay too easy compared to passenger side.
    Got it figured out though.

it's a good one when it works

I don't have the factory parking brake hooked up so I have to crank the adjusters every now and then

Interweb idiots say threaded adjuster thing is swapped side to side as one is RH thread and the other is LH thread.
For reference, Driver side, left side, LH thread, meaning when turned leftwise or counterclock wise, it should collapse, not extend.
Passenger side is right side and has RH threads, etc...
Both were installed correct, and if they are swapped side to side, they merely self adjust inward, not outward, so interwebs is wrong.
However, there is that metal adjuster tab, that clicks the star wheel when the E-brake is pulled.
Driver side when manually yanking the cable, adjusts two clicks instead of one, passenger side was only one.
Also noticed that the tab for the wheel sat in a different plane than the other side.
    Upon closer inspection...
See the forked end that has TWO steps on it, that second, outer step has a purpose, to capture a tab on the adjuster lever. That you can't see behind the brake shoe naturally.
After unfucking that, the adjuster lever now sits slightly above the star wheel, whereas before it was level to the top. My bad. I only had the fucker apart a dozen times during that wheel bearing bullshit, I guess I missed it.
