    lick it.

seriously though. Kill it if it came in the package. Normally I don’t bother killing insects here, but this one is known to come in from China and not sure if it’s invasive.

I spent almost 2 hours at the air emissions. This is in Parker. They took forever. Sign said only 6 minutes & maybe 7 cars were there. The new guy can’t drive stick & almost wreck someones Subaru. He blasted out the bay about 20 mph. Don’t go there if you got a manual!!

it's way too fuzzy for that.
This bag was opened this morning and saw it when I pulled the roll out. I thought it was just a stray spec of filament, then I noticed it moved.
I'll take it to Boulder tomorrow and let it loose.

Is anyone aware of any cars that happen to be stuck in a tree? Here locally? Like an old car/truck that was abandoned and the tree grew up into it? Bonus points if the vehicle is off the ground.

    A little bathroom reading.
Years ago, when I was about 14-16 I bought this Genuine folding Army surplus shovel in Sandpoint Idaho. It originally had a short but girthy hardwood handle on it.
That broke of course because the Army pays no attention to proper grain direction.
So a much younger me welded a pipe fitting on it and screwed on a discarded length of galvanized. I think I actually did this in high school shop for a welding project.
Prolly should have done it in wood shop.
You're actually seeing the after pics on all these, before it was folded up and rusted solid from 3 decades out in the side yard.
This might be the date of manufacture.
I usually see the threaded kind with a big nut out in the wild, this one seems unique as it is spring loaded. Sprayed with WD-40 and sat for an hour before I beat the shit out of it and managed to break it free.
Thought for sure the spring would have disintegrated after all this time, but no, it was in fine shape. No pics of any of these parts. Greased it up inside and put it back together.
Cut it right thru the weld with a hacksaw to preserve as much of the original shovel as possible, removed the part that was hammered inside, and then the remains of the original handle.
Prepping a new handle. There are 3 rivets thru the handle, I managed to waste 12 drill bits removing the top one. The other two can stay, hence the groove. Hard little things.
Yes, it's soft wood. But the grain is correct.
Half a dozen smacks on the floor with 3 pounds of sledge and it's pretty solid and fully inserted.
Cut to length. 24" unfolded, 16" folded.
I believe the original's were 23" unfolded. I didn't think the extra inch would hurt.
Why did I use soft wood? Because it's what I had in 1 1/4". I have several oak and hickory dowels, all 1 1/8".
Maybe I'll do it again with something harder. Maybe not. Not digging a foxhole, just a shit hole.
