Because I know everyone loves a good shop oil change story...

Took the company car to a Grease Monkey because it's fleet. Literally 14 minutes until he checked me out and said wait outside. About a minute later, they came over and told me the snapped a lug off the hub torquing the nut! I looked past the greasy fingerprints on the door, but then the inside door and steering wheel were covered in oil! Gosh I hate those dang places so much.

And it's a brand new car with only 8k miles on it.

WTF were they doing with a wheel lug nut?

It's a fleet vehicle and called for a tire rotation. Worst idea ever.

Anyone happen to know why the airbag light on the dash isn't turning off? Its in a Nissan Sentra. So far I've unhooked/rehooked the battery, disconnected/connected the airbag plugs under both the driver and passenger seats and no luck.

    From the trading post.
They expire for a number of reasons, including wear and tear, changing regulations, recalls, and the limits of manufacturer testing. It comes down to money. Whether that's making you spend more on new seats OR saving money by not having to pay out settlements.

Some retailers will give you credit on a new one if you turn in an expired seat. I'm not arguing with my wife about using an expired car seat.

Campus is shut down, cops have cones out. Lots of lights. Something going down.
Overland Trail completely closed both directions for the next few weeks. Kids are back, traffic is doubled. Everyone funneled thru the same streets. Every street in town has some kind of blocked lane. 3 hours for a normal 10 minute drive for one job and a few errands.
Just another shit show day in The Choice City.

Take them on the Peak to Peak highway. It's still early but there might be some color change up high and it's a pretty drive regardless. Stop in Nederland and get a pizza for lunch.

    thanks for moving this.

I agree on the money portion but I think it’s predatory inciting fear that if their car seat was “expired” their child may have a worse outcome than if it wasn’t..

Not saying a 40 year old seat is safe.. but is a 40 year old vehicle safe…. I also don’t know if anyone is even doing any adjustment on quality of the seat Impacting car seat safety and expiration timeline. . Do the cheap Walmart 30 $ car seats expire faster than the $1000 instagram mom certified expensive ones that use better materials? I can tell you I’ve felt many car seats and some are way better made than others- but what do I know, I grew up holding my baby siblings in the back of a topless Jeep with a back seat that wasn’t attached to the vehicle or in the back of pickup trucks.

I can tell you I’m 100% more concerned about you using a correctly sized car seat appropriate for the child and installed in your car correctly and never been in an accident that is several years expired than a “non expired incorrectly installed one” or one that’s been in an accident.

    - and let’s not even get into the fact that if we would all put our cell phones and alcohol down (r/t driving… I like beer..)
we’d be in a world of a better place at least in relation to accidents lol.

but what do I know- I’m just a freelance bike salesman - and partially sour because we gave our friends a whole car seat setup and it expired recently and they just through it away without telling us lol then I had to let my wife pick out new ones again…

Guanella pass isn't bad. They paved it years ago. There were some leaf signs I saw last time I was that way, which was years ago

re: car seat expirations - one thing I will say is while the plastics will “live” forever, their strength does degrade with time and UV exposure, hence why softgoods in climbing gear should be retired after 7-10 years
