Don't you know those parts could still be useful some day?

But once I've said "thank you" and held them one last time, I take them to a local metal recycler.

Front section is completely done, next up, stripping the headers for a fresh coat of paint and exhaust wrap before doing a final install with the resonators and mufflers. Turning out even better than I was expecting!

Why not equal length if going full custom?

For my specific setup this is just what worked, between the SAS geometry, Crawlbox, and other concerns, this layout was selected. The merge will also help scavenge both sides.

Grass grew an inch overnight, prolly another 2" before it's dry enough to whack back down. Full time mowing and yard care for mom from here on out as well. Last month I covered her garden with plastic and weighted it down to try and kill off the massive amounts of thistle and weeds it has become home to. Thing is 20'x40' in size. She wants to plant flowers....I told her maybe next season. Marketplace is showing it's ugly side of the weirdo's out there, finally sold the Crystal Ship, for the asking price. Made a profit of $1.39 on that, plus the entertainment value. Then there's the trolls that want to buy just individual bricks or have me break up a set. Sure, but it's gonna cost more per item. Better deal to buy the entire set. How about asking me to meet up in Castle Rock, halfway, for a $20 sale? Sure thing bro.The Crystal Ship buyer came down from Cheyenne to buy it at my front door, never even haggled. Need more like him.
Work has slowed to nothing, literally 2 jobs in the last 6 weeks. Called today to see who I pissed off. Nobody apparently, it's just slow and everything is working as it should. New plan is to engineer a bit of obsolescence into my future repairs to stop that shit from happening. The vagrants have apparently moved on or are laying low. Parks lost a few of their new keys that I did for them a couple years ago and someone is stealing from them now, like golf carts, and lawn/landscape equipment. They want it done again, but the funds are short so they are holding off. I wonder how much they will lose in the meantime. It's just a few hundred and a couple days for me to redo it. It's kind of nice to spend the day in all the parks and get paid for it. I wonder what the stolen shit costs to replace.
FoCo has been tasked with cutting out 1 million dollars from the budget, they are broke due to lack of incoming funds from the general public. I think that's because the public is broke too. It's expensive to live in the Choice City. But the Department of Woke and the Department of Opinions are fully funded and spending that shit like there is no tomorrow on rainbow crosswalks and now there are thousands of white fiberglass posts bolted to the streets to make a barrier so the half dozen bikes that use it can feel safe about their commute to the coffee shop. This actually does not affect me, as they have another budget for what I do. But for fucks sake, now there is a repair budget for when cars/trucks drive over them and they break ($2000.00 per post for a streets crew of 6 to remove and replace) and special equipment purchased to remove the snow since the bought and paid for plows can't fit between them, what a shit show of wasteful spending. Sometimes I wish they would keep me in the dark about this stuff. I really don't need to be kept awake at night thinking about it.
I planted several dozen types of short flowering things in the railroad last fall and they are coming up in a very random pattern. I have no idea what most of them are anymore, so it's kind of exciting to see what green things are actually gonna be flowers and what are just weeds. I can identify the dandelions, but that's about it. Pansies are definitely named inappropriately as there is nothing pansy about them. Little bastards shrugged off the snow and wind like it was nothing, most of them sprouted last fall and I thought they were fucked, but nope, they took right off after it warmed above freezing. I can see that slipping into dementia is going to be an easy ride for me now, pretty sure I am well on the way. :D

you know, they could just fund that budget by actually fining drivers for not knowing how to stay in their lane… if people would stop running over things and other people not in cars, this wouldn’t be necessary.

If the bicycles would simply watch out for cars like we did back in the day, we wouldn't need the bubble wrap. But instead they are now entitled to full use of a road They didn't pay for. They already have helmets which we didn't have. Life is a risk.

Brings up another trend I have noticed.
Back when I was a youngling, there was always someone in the circle, either a friend or at school that was sporting a cast from being a dumb kid. Either skiing, jumping a bike off some flimsy plywood leaning against broken cinder blocks, smacked by a car while riding across the street, or just spirited play during recess..
You don't see many kids with casts anymore. Too much bubble wrap.

Hmmm, maybe it’s time for me to downsize…

downsides: bench seat, no ~cruise control~ or intermittent wipers, underpowered…and manual.
Update: looks like they did some upgrades to update the clock spring and add cruise control… still a base model truck that probably has manual windows (brings me back to my first truck - a 1995 ford f’n ranger)
