1.) This is a Hybrid plate bumper

2.) Style of the armor should be set by the fabricator to make themselves stand out and/or look "bad ass." Like Relentless cuts out "R" in his brackets. Things that make the current companies stand out are, angles on the plate bumpers, dimple dies, modular shipping, etc. Everyone wants more than a piece of square tube with legs coming off of it.

I just ordered the Supersliders from Rocky Road Outfitters. The pricing on the website is wrong, it is $100 less than the list price (for Regular cabs.) They are honoring the lower price.

Things I spoke with them about:
-The slider is "bolt on," which means no welding. Some holes will need to be drilled in both the frame and pinch weld.
-They choose to mount to the pinch weld so that the sliders are as close to the truck as possible as well as adding additional strength/support. They are not concerned with body flex and frame flex. This is because this section of frame flexes very little.
-They have had only a few problems with UPS shipping and the powder coat.

When I called them they were able to answer all of my questions and they understood all of my concerns. They seem to get a lot of calls about their mounting system :). I also spoke with them via "Live Chat," that person was also helpful and quick to respond. My Supersliders should be shipped in about two weeks.

So are you adding mounting plates to those legs to weld to the frame or just welding the legs straight to the frame. Are you going to gusset the legs on the frame or mounting plate? Highly recommend gusseting.

Interesting and I am curious to see how they mount and how they do. IMO I would prefer to have separation of the frame and body to allow for independent flex on the sliders as they are used going over or around rocks. I would think (of course not proven) that you run the risk of denting the body near the pinch welds. But we will have to see how and or if my suspicions have any validity once you get that thing on some rocks. :D

Armorology said they just weld them straight to the frame never had any issues with them.

Yep, it is an interesting, possibly contreversial :), design. The way I have heard/seen it described is that the frame AND the pinch weld work together to support the weight, triangulating the support. Where as, a welded slider is supported by the gussets and frame supports.

Another thing I like about the design is, they are tucked up as high as the pinch weld and come up at a 45* angle (to protect the body) but not far enough to accidentally catch rocks.

We will have to wait and see how much abuse these take.

The word on the street is, pretty much everyone, recommends scab plates and gussets. :)

    See what I did there?

I am not a pro, but what I have read is that the scab plates add more surface area and the gussets spread the force to more of the frame. The reason for this is to keep the square tube from punching a square hole in the frame.
