do you plan on using it? i've heard great things about them with drawing in cold air, plus of course the normal snorkel advantages with water, but if you don't plan on using it in water crossings, is it really worth it?

guess that's a questions to anyone with snorkel experience...cause once you go snorkel you can't go back without replacing the fender

I would love to do one in my truck. I wonder What the cost is. I have for sure been in water where I could have used one.

ive definatly been in some deepwater that was clase to the intake, but they are mostly for dust reduction in the air filter. for the water-proofing, there is alot more to do. I think im gonna pull the trigger on one, and think about it a bit more, i can always sell it if i decide i dont need/want it

The Snorkel move hasn't been a bad one for me. I have seen improved fuel economy of about 1 to 2mpg. But there are a lot of other factors that affect my mpg's as well. Cost of the kit is about $350.00 and I know they are doing another GB on this with about a $50 savings. You might want to check it out.

Install isn't bad does require some personal touches as it is not bolt on. I have the needed tools should you pick one up. If I had to do it all over again I would also remove some of the bends in the piping to take away some of the restriction of the flow. Unless you are going to run a pre-filter on the top of the snorkel you don't gain much in cleaner air on the air box. I have been watching the air temp and that is much improved now.

As far as deep water crossing there are some other things you need to address before you go diving:

    • Water proofing the fuse box, alternator, and the battery
    • figuring out a way to seal the doors on the truck as they are not double sealed and will flood.
But all in all I think so far it has been worth it. Oh and you get to see some of the dumbest looks on people's faces as you are driving around. :D

For the 2TR, I would like to get rid of my fender baffle and add a mini-snorkle, possibly with a pre-filter. The only reason that baffle is in there is for sound, it only prevents a bit of water and dust. People on the forums seem to remove the baffle and not worry about dust/water, but I don't want to take that chance.
