Jace, Is there a fix for the throughout bearing noise yet in the 05+ Manuals?
I emailed a service guy at Mountain States Toyota back early last year, and went in November and have been turned down every time as far as a good fix from Toyota. I have read up on the thread about this and the fixes so far that people have been getting end up not solving the problem. Also would I still be covered under warranty if I am over 60k miles but brought up the problem to them at 55k?
Which do you work at btw?

I know the company that makes the TOB Sleeve Kit is outta Colorado somewhere. I have heard some people are getting their issues fixed at the dealer with that kit. A lot of the Subaru dealers in CO are using that kit to fix the same issue on their cars. I just did it myself, took me 7 hours from the time I shut it off till I started it back up again. Its not tough.

Can you walk at all? Colorado Springs has a COG train up Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, 7 Falls, and Cave of the winds. Otherwise if minimal walking is involved I would say hit up Central City and Black Hawk for some gambling. If not that main street Castle Rock has some cool little bars. :D

If you're only 20 downtown, brewery, and gambling are out. Train ride would be sweet down in springs up through pikes peak.

so the first fix that came out was a new bell housing. we did a shit ton of them. didnt fix it. now toyota is having us do new pressure plates, t/o bearings and slave clyinders and pivot balls. the old tsb is obsolete. i believe since u complained about it before warranty was up, they will still honor the warranty. the new tsb works.

But the issue isn't with the pressure plate, the slave or the pivot ball is it? Its the friction of the TOB on the pilot shaft. When I took mine apart and put the sleeve on there, the pilot shaft was scored and worn from the TOB. The sleeve fixed it and I didn't do any pivot balls or plates or the slave. :notsure:

dude im not the engineer man... all i know is when ive done the bell housings, the vehicles came back with the same noise. nw with the new tsb, they dont... only way i can see it working is if the new pivot ball changes the axis on which the bearing slides on the bellhousing sleeve, thus not rubbing as much....

    A few bolts are different.
I'm not positive it is shot really but thought I would do it while everything is torn down that far. As for the not being in the shop helping, shit that sucks, but I definitely understand protocol on this. I like to carry my weight when asking people for a hand. Lets continue this conversation in PM to discuss some possible details, just fill me in on what your thinking about the situation.

My next big maintenance is either going to be water pump or clutch. I would like to get the clutch done, so I can actually get some feel in the pedal. The stock clutch is shitty.
