You describe it well. A lot of people come out the mountains looking to build a life, and realize there are a zillion others trying to do the same thing. And more come in every year. The mountains are filled with people with bachelors, masters, even PhDs working shit jobs just to be here. And most leave within 2-5 years. Though most don't want to and the longing never seems to dull. It's a simple life and a beautiful place. But it's hardly real, and even harder to stick.

John Denver wrote a song about it called "I Guess He'd Rather Be in Colorado". And up Steamboat they call it the "Yampa Valley curse".

As soon as I move away I will be sad about it. It is the most beautiful place I have ever lived and is outdoor heaven. To me I can do with out because where I want to move is Chattanooga, another place of outdoor heaven. Just not as much winter activity.

 

Chattanooga is a nice place, lots of backpacking near those parts

 

Exactly. The downtown area is awesome also. For what I pay in rent here, I can own a nice house in Chattanooga suburbs.

Far more than I need. Basically this one is for finances, music, videos, photos, internet, and some TV via a Direct TV App where I can watch DVRed shows. If I started gaming I would soon be broke, divorced, and albino.
