Newbie here, moved to CO last year. Just got a Tacoma sport DCSB. Probably needing tires by winter. Question for all of you who off road. Should I look at P or LT rated tires? Planning on hunting, driving forest service roads, etc, but no major off roading, rock crawling etc. Not lifting my truck or anything like that. Any help?

Coal that you don't own the mineral rights too. Don't announce too loud or your backyard will become a mine site and you won't make money from it.

Big tires, big lift, Lots of stuff's.
Throw a nice AT tire on I'd go load range E. Ie: duratracks, cooper ST maxx, big O AT's, BFG AT's, you could prolly get away with a Tera grappler. It will get ya places and not be loud on the road.

X2 what hoyal said. And what he is saying is definitely get a LT tire. Passenger car tires don't have enough sidewall, I always go with an E rated tire so that the sidewalls are beefier when aired down for our rocky CO trails.

Oh and as far as not lifting, major offroading, etc...good luck, this place changes you. It changed me. 1.5years and probably $5k later I am glad to say I have become a much better wheeler and plan to do harder trails this summer.

You should be able to find some used bfg ATs for pretty cheap on Craigslist.

If all you're going to be doing is what you posted, then load range E tires is going to be a bit overkill unless you haul a ton a weight with you everywhere. Load range C, or even D at the top end, is way plenty for sidewall strength for what you'll be doing. It doesn't sound like you're going to be airing them down and running them at a low psi anyways. The softer sidewall will be a lighter and more comfortable tire on the road. I would definitely look into LT tires for the exact reason Native mentioned regarding the sidewall. I would also look for an A/T tire rather than an M/T for more tame on road handling. I had the Big O A/T (big foot) previously and thought it was a great tire. It was a load range C tire and it held up just fine to the local trails here and one trip to Moab.
