    WTG OST!

Day 2 here. I'm cranky & tired but I didn't sleep last night. Scale was 2.4lb lighter this morning. I'm not missing food right now but nighttime is worse for me. I went with a mix of Bolthouse & Naked. Would've gotten Odwalla but their green blend was out. I've added freshies to the Bolthouse but I'm still getting a lot of unbearable pulp dependent upon what i mix in. Not ready to make the juicer commitment just yet.

Uh oh... long winded reply ahead. :D

To be honest with you, I don't put an awful lot of weight in what doctors have to say anymore. I won't go into details but suffice it to say that I have reached my current situation through no arguments from 'qualified medical experts' who feel that prescribing a pill is a better solution to losing weight. Not one time was it mentioned. I avoid the doctors office like the plague and other than being overweight and being on heartburn medication (due to being overweight after my own research on the subject since my chat with the doc on the subject was less than enlightening) I'm as healthy as can be. Well, save for some of my blood work categories starting to trend upward... do to weight and diet.

I know losing 15lbs in a week seems unhealthy and normally I would agree if that's all the information I had to go on. When you find out that I was nearly 300lbs last week you might think that that rapid weight loss isn't as unhealthy as another week remaining at 300lbs. I researched this quite a bit before starting and it seems as though lots of people lost these weight numbers a year or two ago and today are the healthiest they've been in their entire lives. I'm not saying it's for everyone (even though I'm slowly starting to gravitate towards this side of the argument the more research I do and through my own personal experience) but for me it's working.

There is a lot more to my personal life that I don't get into that makes a scheduled and structured work-out routine and cold turkey dieting not feasible but for many that is what works. If that works for you and you can develop a healthy routine then good deal because that's the ideal way. The more I do this and the more I learn though I'm thinking it's a LOT healthier than some would think from the outside looking in. I mean, if all you see is that I lost 15lbs in a week then you're missing the big picture and that is how I'm doing it. I'm not taking in crap and my body is getting all the nutrients and vitamins that it needs and burning stored fat for the missing calories. People talk about having better skin, better hair, better sleep patters, more energy and the list of medical diseases I've seen people claim this diet changed is staggering and I'm a bit skeptical to be honest. I have read from people saying that they had colon cancer and then years later are cured and medical science basically doomed them to eventual death. Like I said, those sort of claims make me skeptical because it just seems like too much from something this simple but the more I see people make these claims the more it seem possible.

There's a video called Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead that was done by a guy who was worse off than I was and today he's the picture of health. You should watch it or some of the other first-hand YouTube videos before you cast your opinion because before I started researching I wouldn't have believed any of this bullshit either.

By the way, I hope none of that came of as defensive as I'm not trying to be. Just answering questions and addressing ideas. I'm happy to share what I've learned about this topic on my short journey.

2.4lbs is good! Nice work! Most people lost about a pound per day (or a little less) so don't let my #'s discourage you. The last several days in fact I'm slowly settling down to that pound per day average and that's likely where I will be for the remainder and more what I was expecting. When I started this I expected to be 7lbs lighter or so at this point so I just got lucky and everyone is different.

Compare the label of the Odwalla Superfood to the Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness. Once I did this I wrote off Superfood. The Green Goodness has a lot more of the nutrients & vitamins you're body will need if that's all you're taking in.

No, no... I didn't take any of that as defensive at all. It sounds like you've done your research and so far you've had some great success. And, to that, I say congratulations! I went from about 210 down to 185, so I'm trying to get in a bit better shape, but it took me a lot of hard work to get there.

I also avoid the doctor like the plague. It seems more and more they'll poke and prod for about 30 second and then give you some I-don't-give-a-damn answer without possibility of further dialogue.

    Congrats on your success, Ost!

I don't have expectations beyond losing what I can & making that "lifestyle eating habits" change permanently.

What I wasn't expecting was this heartburn/reflux flare. I guess Green Goodness has more acid than I realized. I've not treated my reflux in about 5+ years, beyond staying away from trigger foods.

Yeah, that was something I struggled with too but I know that long-term it will be worth it. In a couple of months when I'm off of my heartburn meds and healthier than I've been in a long time it will be worth it.
