Guys I don't disagree that our society now has to engage in taking responsibility for their own goods or possessions through preventative measures. Society pushes this and now says it common sense. But the fact remains that it is completely a twist to the truth and the result of our inability to make the punishment fit the crime.

So in thinking along these lines where we now should be taking measures to keep our possession safe since it is our responsibility be removing the opportunity then don't anti-gun activists have a point? If we become responsible citizens and remove the opportunity to murder by banning guns would that not be similar to removing the opportunity to steal? Of course along with this you would need to ban knives, axes, ice picks, screw drivers, hammers, shovels or hell even cars then.

    :D Ready...1,2,3 go!

For some reason we keep getting resumes from people who are way too overqualified for working at a tanning salon...people with nursing degrees and dental hygiene degrees etc. And for some reason one we can't figure out. According to the resume, it took this person 6 years to get a 2 year degree and it said she only worked summers. :notsure:

That's not even close to the same comparison since even if you eradicated the world of guns (lol) the items that could still be used to murder another human being is countless. Your possessions on the other hand are finite and easily tracked and secured. You keep talking about how society is today but I promise you that if you lived in a cave hundreds (or thousands of years ago depending on your personal beliefs) if you left your club outside your cave at night some other lazy ass caveman would come along and jack your shit. Crime has been around since before prostitution so I'm not sure how you plan to eradicate the earth of all crime so you can leave your cash laying out on the curb to be safe.

It's the economy or lack thereof. People just need work and at this point are willing to take anything.

How is not similar. You are telling me that I need to take responsibility and lock my shit up so there is no opportunity for theft. People who want to gun bans are attempting to remove the same opportunity so that there is a reduction in victims.

And cavemen could take matters into their own hands. You jack my club and I beat you to death with my back up club. In that day and age the punishment fit the crime. Yes crime occurred but in much smaller amounts then we have today. And no not simply because there were less humans on the earth then there are today. Punishment that fits the crime in most 1st world countries is now considered cruel and unusual punishment. Instead we waste tax dollars keeping criminals in cells doing nothing productive all day.

There are ZERO stats to support this is the problem. Look at Washington D.C. & Chicago if you want to see cities that successfully banned firearms. Funny how the violent crime rate absolutely sky rockets when they do ban them. So if your goal is to reduce victims the answer is to allow law abiding citizens the ability to easily attain firearms (legally) to take responsibility for their own safety and lives.

But they already have a club with which to defend themselves and possibly kill you. It's also not likely that you would see your club or the caveman that took it ever again... just like criminals today. You're getting into crowded prison systems and hinting towards removing hands and shit for petty theft and other topics that we could discuss forever and I have no plans to do that. It seems the best and easiest option is still to secure your shit and I can't believe there's something somewhere arguing this isn't the best and easiest way to not become a victim yet here we are....

It was just a theory and parallel. But you bring up a good point because burglary, petty theft, and stealing have not gone away due to preventative measures or personal responsibility. Thanks for bringing up that point.
    It's still the principal.

I think that the roads are more dangerous than they should be right now in Colorado so I'm just not going to wear my seat belt in the meantime because they should fix the roads. That's more of a parallel to what you're saying. Most people learned at a pretty early age to put your toys away and if you didn't and something happened to them then that was your fault for not putting them away. If someone smashed out your car window and then rummages through your glove box to steal something valuable than that really sucks. If you leave your sun glasses sitting on the trunk and someone walks off with them then that's on you. In BOTH cases someone was a dirt bag their but in one you took precautions to protect your shit. In the other you were careless and presented a crime of opportunity to ANYONE who's walking by. In the other some experienced and hardened criminal was forced to take extreme measures to steal your shit. I don't know how you can't see someone's roll as a victim on both situations.

BTW, I get that your intentionally baiting me to debate because there's no way anyone could honestly believe that leaving your shit laying around only to blame 'the system' when it ends up missing is somehow a good idea.

    k
