Now with 12,000lb winching capabilities. Thanks to Gramps who clued me in on a Harbor Freight deal going on now.

If anyone is looking for a winch, HF has the Badlands 12,000 for $299 with a coupon right now. I also got a wireless remote control for it for $20 with a coupon. I was under $350 out the door with taxes.

I know HF gets a bad rap for a lot of things, but these winches have gotten great reviews both in publication and word of mouth from people I know.

Nice man! Bumper looks great as well. I want to see that winch working.

Just be careful not to pull the bumper off

I've always heard you're supposed to get a winch that is rated for 1.5x the weight of your rig. If its too powerful you could damage the frame/front bumper from pulling it too hard.

I could see where that would be possible. But with smart winching usage I would rather be over powered then under powered. You just need to listen to the load on the motor and question the stopping point. I say except for sticky mudd and extreme angle pulls he should not have anything to worry about. Then in those situations pay attention to the winch.

Awesome. Better to do it now then regret it later, even if you don't finish it. So much room for activities in the basement. Can't wait to have one again.

Yeah I think we are going to go with the platte model too. It's smaller but we an upgrade within our price range better.

Yes it is. We didn't do a ton of upgrades but we did rounded corners on the dry-wall (make SURE you do this!) a couple other smaller things like that and then we did 1' taller ceilings in the basement & ground level (ranch style) plus our garage is HUGE. Before I got benches, shelves & stuff in we could fit 5 cars in it.

...and the damn thing is still always full.
