I got pulled over last night for no plate light haha. Though I was leaving Sundance so probably was seeing if I was drunk and that was the only thing to get me for. He was nice and no ticket. It was awkward at first because my window froze and he was leaning on my door. I had to like push him away to open it haha. He did scare the crap out of me though. He came back and he's like "you have a felony warrant out for your arrest." talk about the worst feeling in the world. "just kidding" :bananadead:

I was pulled over last couple weeks for snow on the back window. I didn't even know that was legal for probable cause seeing as how delivery vans usually have no back window and I have a passenger mirror...no ticket, so, whatever. He must have been bored.

Got a question for some of you longer-term CO residents. Got a weekend trip up to Winter Park this weekend (leaving Thursday). Of course, the forecast is calling for 12-22 inches of snow between Wednesday on the mountains (9000+ ft), with wind gusts up to 60 mph. Calling for 6-10 inches and 20 mph winds in the towns of Winter Park, Fraser, etc. With as awesome as the snow will be, I am going to be dying to get up there, plus we paid $2000 for the house and it's nonrefundable.

My question - what does it take to close Highway 40? If they do close it Thursday, will it be back open Friday? We all have 4WD and are experienced mountain drivers, but if Berthoud Pass is physically closed obviously there's nothing we can do.

When I see the passes close, its usually because of white-outs and extreme low visibility. So the wind isn't going to help you there.

If for whatever reason Berthoud Pass does close, and you don't mind driving, there's a 99% chance you can take the "scenic" way. No point in waiting for Berthoud to open IMO. Drive up to Silverthore, north to Kremmling, and then hit 40 back to winter park. Those roads don't close very often at all.

Thanks for the reply. I actually just found that route about 30 seconds ago myself, haha. Good to have a backup plan. I don't want to miss this powder on Friday, especially with the mountain being dead compared to the weekend traffic.

The snow is going to be incredible. 11 inches Monday, 5 today, and 17 Thursday. Wow.

This and it was only because the avalanche went across the road. Which does not happen often in the area it happened in. I'll prolly be up there the next couple of weeks taking advantage of the snow in berthoud pass.

I don't know about Berthoud, but Rabbit Ears was Closed for like 7-8 hours a week or so ago because of white-out conditions.

Anyways, just started snowing here, have a good time!

Why do none of you guys ever come to Steamboat?

    Smart ass....

But really its kind of funny. Was working that day, and some lady came in saying she was blowing the time because she couldn't get to Denver. Funny thing is, Gore pass was open, which would add a grand total of like 30-45 minutes to your drive to Denver.
