I rattle canned my wheels too and rock dings don't bother me a bit.

Big fan of the rattle can for stuff that takes hits regularly (if you couldn't tell)

But how long does it take if you have to touch up your bumper, skids, and sliders. Last time for me it must have been at least 32.66 seconds. Maybe I need more practice :notsure:

But honestly, I dont' see the point in powder coating armor. You're going to scratch it and scrape it. It costs $10-20 to rattle can it the first time, and one can will get you touchups though a season. My bumper and sliders have rustoleum spray on beadliner for a textured finish. Looks pretty good, and has held up well.

The stuff I spray paint scratches and chips a lot easier. I don't think its worth powder coating everything and anything, but some things IMO could benefit from it. Depends on how many touch ups you want to do. I've never had to touch up by front bumper (has a little rust) and its been ~4 years, but I have to re-do my sliders at least once a year.

If you look at the original the truck is probably crooked in one of the corners of the pic. So you're right, its the professional editing job :p

PC on Front bumpers help a ton with sand dings, salt, and liquid deicer. It does not help when I hit my bumper on a rock wall. That still has to be touched up. But the everyday stuff including rust is much less with PC then with normal rattle can.

I like the idea that your PCer gives you a can of matching, that makes sense.
Satin, or even flat, probably helps with blending the touch ups too. Flat paint can hide a lot of sins.

The only thing I hate about flat is if you tap the trigger too hard to start. You can totally see the initial spray start with flat when doing that. The Satin seems to be more forgiving.

Just as a comparison. My rear bumper is entirely rattle can since it was weld on. I have not completely touched up my front ARB (with PC base) in 3 years. My rear has gotten a full coat touch up every year. This spring the front and rear will get a complete touch up. I will be buying a case to complete this.

FYI for those rattle canning stuff and wanting a decent finish. This thing works:

    I highly suggest one. :)

So if I get this bumper, who's going to help me put it on?

Eric's garage seems to be the place where bumpers are born. :D

It seems that way, doesn't it? I just hope that it will fit in the bed of my truck so that I can actually transport it down. That is if Eric even wants to let this happen at his place.

I used a motorcycle/atv jack on wheels to lift and slide mine in to place.

    Super easy.

You're welcome to borrow it or bring your pile down and put it on here.

Don't ARBs come in pieces to make it even easier?

If it does not conform it gets kicked! We tried to be gentle and it got us no where. Had to bring the pain!!!

And when it's a new companies bumper and the instructions are no where to be found you gotta do what ya gotta do. :D

Yes. This model in particular is very user friendly. Mount the sub-frame and then one person can put the bumper on to the sub-frame and align the bolts then use a jack to level it out. After that the winch can be bench pressed up into place while some installs the bolts and you are good to go.
