Weee I won! I'd like to thank Sam for the lights (and figuring out that damn spare key), Lauren for the moral support, and Brett for risking his life with the hi-lift. *exists stage left with award*

In the process of jacking up the truck we found that toyota frames really are made from butter. My bumper has moved about 1/4" from true. Checked when I got home and sure enough the end brackets on the frame are all bent and distorted. For a $30k+ truck this thing sure is made from some shit material.

EJ where did you get those lower gussets that attach to your swingarm mounts, did they come with from Pelfry or did you get them somewhere else? Might need to get some of those since now I'm afraid to use my winch thinking the bumper mounts will likely rip away.

Yeah I'll get some pics tomorrow when it's light out. I've heard that the bumper mounts were weak but I guess I didn't really think they would twist and warp like that. Probably didn't help that the hi-lift was applying vertical force instead of horizontal, but damn!

Please direct all complaints to my secretary. :D

Glad you made it back ok!

I wonder if we had jacked from the sliders if they would have bent as well.

We started that way but it didn't look real stable the hi lift was going to go straight into the door. Needless to say we didn't want that to happen.

We started jacking from the sliders but the top of the hi-lift wanted to scratch against the door so we moved to the d-ring on the front bumper.

The sliders are attached to the nice boxed frame so it probably would have been less of an issue with all the bending, but I'm kind of glad we went with the bumper so I can get that fixed up and strengthened before I have to rely on the winch someplace less hospitable than a dirt lot in FtC.

I still think it would have been funny to get a picture of how we were in the middle of the city. Next to a road.

I'm not sure what the fix will be for the mount point, maybe see if I can get a stronger plate welded in place of the POS metal look alike that toyota used. In the meantime TeamHypoxia has these nice angle braces on his 2nd gen that look like they'd reinforce what bent quite nicely.

Did anyone get a pic of the metal flower in the ground? I forgot.
E rated Duratrac sidewalls would appear to have a weakness for jagged metal sheets. For those keeping score on the Duratrac sidewall argument.

Since the tire was already shredded, I should have rolled up on that metal thing to look like I was mall posing. Then gotten a pic with the road in the background.

I can get a picture of it tomorrow. I may try to flag it as well.

Were you guys all drunk or something? I start catching up with his thread and I have no idea wtf happened last night. Reading between the lines I am guessing you guys had to to park in a dirt lot and someone got a flat and used a hi lift to jack it up and actually bent a frame trying to do so? Then I hear a lot of what sounded like toyota bashing on a toyota forum
I have jacked up my truck from the sliders and from both bumpers and never bent anything. Hope to see some clarifying posts today sometime.

I have used my front bumper with my hi - lift jack and had no problems with bending anything.
I know there is a company on here that makes front and rear bumper brackets to weld on to make it stronger.
I'll do some suffering on here today and let you know what I find.

Well crap, I have looked at vendors for about a hour now and can't find one that mentions a weld on bracket for front or rear bumper.
But I think if you contact B.A.M.F. they might be able to make them special for you.

I don't think anyone was drunk... then again I was talking (I do that a lot) and probably wouldn't have noticed. Though WillT and I were hitting the hard stuff, and I think we both left after 3 Cokes :D

I didn't get to see the aftermath... I was on my way home to "Kansas"
