Hopefully soon...going to a 4" Ready Lift this time opposed to the 3" Toytec...I would go 6" but I enjoy my garage parking :)

"10 Cars That Retain Resale Value After Five Years"

    http://www.thestreet.com/story/12757242/9/10-cars-that-retain-their-resale-value-after-5-years.html

    2. Toyota Tacoma
    MSRP: $18,125
Resale value retained after five years: 61.9%
"The Tacoma has taken this award 10 times for one big reason: You can pound on it all you want and it just keeps coming back for more. Durability is a big deal in the Tacoma's world, where carbuyers who don't feel they need all the size and strength of a Ford F-Series or Chevy Silverado are drawn to its off-road agility, flexible cargo options and easy handling."

"At a combined 23 miles per gallon, the base model Tacoma gets the mileage of a small SUV without sacrificing any of its midsized truck power. When you're content with fetching big items from the hardware store or taking a yardfull of leaf litter to the dump without flashing chrome or flexing muscle, this is the understated truck to buy, even if it's secondhand."

Tundra and 4Runner made the list as well.

Since we are talking vehicles here, due to my growing family, it's time to get rid of my Mazda3 hatch. It's fun and cool looking but sucks in the snow, has no backseat room, and we just need more storage (for strollers and other baby stuff).

We have been looking around for a crossover SUV under $25k and found the Ford Edge. It's not much to look out on the outside but the inside features seem to be very nice. Anybody have any experience with one and care to share their opinion?

Slapps74 had an Edge for a few years with no complaints...we rented one last year for a road trip to CA...car was quick, comfortable, and looked great....

I may or may not have taken it around a rather fun road area in CA to test it's limits...I would definitely consider the Edge.

I'd like a 4Runner but finding a newer model with low mile and under $25k is tough :(

The new model Ford Escape looks so much better than the old model though. The interior almost has a spaceship feel to it.

i would go with the highlander, 4 runner, venza, even a rav4 before i bought another ford product. I'm just not a fan of fords. The Venza is actually a pretty sick looking vehicle in my opinion too.

yes, that is a very tough find, we were looking at a 11 with 40K miles and it was still priced at 32K, the new ones that we were test driving were priced at 34K buying used toyotas if difficult when they hold the value that well.

We rented a Ford Edge Hybrid on our trip to San Diego and after driving it for a week I would have no problem owning one. From a guy who grew up raised by a family that believed GM ruled all... I'd rather drive a Ford these days than a GM. GM took a bailout and STILL hasn't improved a damn thing.

    Awesome!!

I just sat in a new Tundra at mountain states today, and I fell in love with it, you can live in the back seat, it's like the size of two Tacomas..

    Very nice, and congrats!!

Right now the only color that I think looks decent on a Ford Edge is Black. Simply because the only way to make it look cool is to black it out. Otherwise, it looks like every other soccer-mom-mobile in the burbs. I want my rides to look cool

I haven't looked at a Toyota Venza yet. Will have to check it out! I've never owned a Ford so I really don't have an opinion yet. I used to have a Chevy Colorado and while I hated the interior and the cheap exterior but I absolutely LOVED the engine and tranny. It was a workhorse. We won't be able to buy anything for a while yet since I have to finish paying off the Tacoma (early spring) but I'm looking around and getting ideas within my budget. Who knows, perhaps some old lady will have a new 4Runner that is too much for her to handle and will sell it to me on the cheap (wishful thinking here  )

Strange. Similar thoughts from my family growing up and I agree. Ford's have decent quality these days and kept themselves afloat amidst the recession.

I will still own a Toyota first and foremost but if I had to buy a Ford it would not be that bad.

In addition to our Tacoma and 4Runner, we own two Acura MDX's...a 2005 and a 2010. Both have been excellent on all levels. Affordable to own and to maintain, great retainers of value and a terrific ride. Plenty of them on the aftermarket as well.

I would buy a used or lease-returned MDX in a New York minute.

Edit: or a 4Runner, for that matter.

Over Chrome? Yes! Let it dry, sand it and apply paint. Sand it again apply paint. 3 or 4 coats should be good. I did this on my Chrome Grill surround and it has been great for over a year now.
