    First elk I killed was at 400 yards with a .270. One of the best big game calibers ever divised IMO.

    Except one of the main benefits of .270 is the ammo is cheap and readily available. Then it's flatter shooting then most of the other rounds that would be readily available.

    I agree but that it shoots flat but the Ultra Mag shoots even flatter. ;)

    Actually, my all time favorite round is probably the .338 Lapua Magnum but that's going to be WAY overkill for just about anything on this continent and will do more damage than is necessary for game hunting. But for a target round that thing is way kick ass. :cool:
