fog cutouts wont fit factory fogs on the aluminum bumper, the steel bumper requires a coupling ghetto rig to make the factory fogs fit so i went with rigid duallys for my fog replacements :D

I would order this exact setup again if needed, it weighs in at 55LBS which is huge weight savings, i had them ship bare and just used like 4 cans of rustoleum primer and 4 cans of flat black sanding between coats with 800 grit paper.

i have a winch sitting in my garage, im going to install that this week and then install bumper and then put on the custom splice synthetic winch rope

Hey Phil what are you doing for suspension up front?
When I added my front bumper and winch, I had to go to 886 springs to compensate for the weight. Are you going to be able to leave it as is with the aluminum?
    885?
    Something else?

A powdercoat may be the right way to go with you Ost, because it will be a lot more stress and worry free for you. You dont wheel much, so you wont bang up the powdercoat and this way you won't have to spray it every so often (something I don't see you wanting to do)

I would definitely do the center hoop. I think its mean.

I powder coated my front bumper since it doesn't see a whole lot of action anyway. A lot easier and don't have to deal with touching up.

How good? Pelfreybuilt has free shipping on all winches through November plus 15% off for blackfriday which both technically expired last night but I already got confirmation that they're going to honor the 15% off for me since I have to have my body shop order it... just not sure if they'll honor the free shipping part and stack them. But if so, that's a pretty damn good deal and why I was even considering a winch I otherwise wouldn't buy. I was looking at the Smittbuilt X20-10K 2nd gen which is waterproof with wireless remote for about $700 shipped if they honor both free shipping & 15% off. I don't know a lot about winches but this one seems like it would suffice for my need an has a synthetic line which I know I want.

    Thoughts?

Not what I wanted to hear on the fogs but I need a new passenger one anyway so maybe I will just take the opportunity to buy the same LED ones. I've got 3,000k HIDs in them now and LOVE the amber look so I'd have to buy probably the same ones you got. I think I saw they plug into the OEM harnesses? I'd like to reuse the wiring there and control them the same way my stock ones are now since I did the anytime fogs mod in my sig.

Also, powder coating is less than $200 after the discount so I might just go that route. Then again, Ozzie's painted my grill surround on my Satoshi and was able to match it perfectly so I'm tempted to have them paint the front bumper too as I'm a sucker for a pyrite mica truck with a color matched plate front bumper:

Oh, and the center grill support I think is the little bracket where the lower plug in the center of your grill sits. I think you lose them when you pull the factory bumper. Any of that ring a bell since you installed your own?

This question also interests me as I think I may be ordering springs to go with my 5100's to get a full 3" of lift and Dakar rear leaf's too while I'm at it. I think the weight difference in a aluminum and steal front bumper is over 100lbs & I think that an aluminum plate isn't much different than the factory bumper/cover/brackets. The winch isn't light though so I'd like to know how all the #'s break down so I can figure out which springs to order too.

I don't do a whole lot of wheeling (currently) so I'm not sure that's a deciding factor. I mean, it could be easier to touch up paint but I might also be doing it more often and it likely will never look as good as the day I install it whereas powder coat would likely stand up to years of regular use (not wheeling) and look decent doing it too. Just something about painted pyrite mica plate front bumpers....

Still not sure on the hoop but leaning clean look right now.

Yeah, that's one of the big factors too... maintenance-free and with my side steps and rear bumper being black it wouldn't look too out of place. I kind of want to do a vintage black block vinyl look too which will help to tie black bumpers in.

im sticking with my current suspension setup up front, its like 100 lbs difference with aluminum so i should sag to much in the front, we shall see this sunday when i do the install of all the new goodies!!

ost, pelfreybilt shipped everything that i ordered on the same pallet rigids, cab mount chop, hawse fairlead, and all install products with some t shirts too :D

my winch was free (won at the toytec event) but everything else was to install that free winch so it was a very expensive raffle for me anyhow ha ha ha

ask satin what she will charge you for the rigid dually's they arent that expensive and will be much better than the stock fogs for sure!!

I also dont mind doing a bit of touch up every summer after wheeling because it gets me in the garage which is nice!!

How good? You can pick up a Smittybilt XRC8 9500 lbs for $299. They might have free shipping as well but I knkw for sure you can get free shipping if you ship to their store and pick it up. But that's if you wanted an affordable option but you seem to want a lot more than that lol.

And for curiosity sake, if you don't offroad, why are you looking at waterproof and wireless? Lol

Oh yeah, I totally forgot you won that winch at the Toytec event a couple summers ago. Jerk. Yeah, that's still an expensive 'prize' but you still came out WAY ahead IMO.

The Rigid Dually's are like $190 before the 15% so around $160 with which is reasonable. I can then pull my stockers w/HID kit and sell them to help offset that too. In the end it will probably be worth it to get the housings that are made for those cut-outs. I saw where one dude was able to glue brackets to the back side of the bumper and make the stock fogs fit but I'm not sure I want to chance that at this point. I really just want to swap everything out at once and avoid putting it on an taking it off several times. This is also why I'm considering a winch and related parts now too.

A couple summers ago? Wasn't that the last Toytec event?

I'm not looking for it that's one of the cheaper options they offer and I know I want a syn line and the wireless is just icing on the cake. But yeah, I certainly don't need it at all and like the idea of $300 even better. Hell, I've heard of people having good luck with a certain model from Harbor Freight even so I may just hold off on the whole winch thing for now anyway and see where funds end up after all the repair work is done & I finish the other mods I want to do.

I'm actually considering replacing my Smittybuilt 8k with the Harbor Freight 9k winch. I'm not too impressed with the XRC 8000. Visually, on the outside, the HF winch is better built. Internally, I don't know.
