I have had my duratracs for about a year now...on 17s. I love them! Granted I have yet to go wheeling, but in the winter they work wonders. I can make it up my driveway without putting it in 4 wheel drive now.

U saw how mine did at Barber Forks. Like u, it's my daily driver and are only slightly noisy in the rain. I haven't had them in the snow yet but I'm sure they will do what is needed and more.

3" lift using Fox Shocks Coilover, Total Chaos UCA's. Running: Duratrac 285/70/17 Rear suspension just a 1" block for now. Will have custom rear springs no block. Fox w/ Resi.
I did the same comparisons as you.. I am running Duratracs and would def buy them again. They are all around great in the snow, rain, off-roading I was impressed!

i will be buying them again. I have 15k miles on them so far, they are wearing great.

At this point, I have decided to only run MT tires for two reasons:

1.) I want to run the toughest, strongest, puncture resistant tire. Driving home from the trial is very important to me.

2.) Most all of the MT tires that I am interested in will last 40,000+ miles on my truck. Most of the tires run a hard compound, rated for full size trucks.

correct me if im wrong, but:
    1) the toughest, strongest, most puncture resistant tire is not necessarily a MT. wouldnt ply come into play here? Sure kevlar reinforces the tire, but its still pretty easy to rip a hole in it if you catch a sidewall on a sharp rock. Driving home in important to everyone, thats why you should have a full sized spare and insurance on your tires. Yeah its an inconvience to change a tire on the trail, but if you are relying only on kevlar reinforced tires and no spare, you are dumb.

    2) MTs that last 40k? I have not done much research (besides my own when purchasing tires) but there cant be many out there. Again correct me if im wrong, but a hard compound has nothing to do with if they are rated for a full size truck. isnt that the ply of the tire? higher the ply the stiffer the tire = more psi = heavier loads that can be towed or hauled. the rubber compound is going to vary due to the tires design specifications. a racing tire is going to be super soft for traction on a course, but not last long, and long haul truck tire is going to be very hard for the milage and abuse its going to endure.

I wasn't referring to Kevlar, I was referring to, the toughest, strongest, most puncture resistant tire. An AT tire is not as strong, tough, or puncture resistant, when compared to an MT.

I am not a Tire Scientist but I do know that E rating is given to a tire for more than just plys. Chip/chunk resistance is also something that is built in to MT tires.

The ply rating in a tire is given based on a ply rating. Most 10 ply tires (e) don't actually have 10 plies. They have the same amount of plies as a 6 ply (c) and 4 ply tire.

Just put in app to front range community college so I can take a welding class. That way I have an excuse to go buy something i can use on my truck;) Plus I gotta take a lab for anatomy and physiology but that's beside the point!

I can show you my Toyos with 40,000 on them. They have some chunking and a slice in the carcass. I had them at Discount for a rotation, 3,000 miles ago, they said I had about 15,000 miles to go. They are far from worn out.

    I Google'd to be smarter, http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=55.

Just got my tires mounted!!! Went with the 285 75 16 Load D Duratracs!

It lifted my truck 1.5 inches. Didnt think it would lift it that much but I measured before and after any way:D

Now I just gotta trim, I got some light rubbing.

    Before and after pics.

Is it me, or does the front end not look like its much lower than the back with these tires? I was complaining how bad my front end rake was last week lol. Im seeing things. lol
