Interesting. I use powder coat as a base on just about everything I have installed on my truck and the only time I have ever seen flaking is if the metal is not properly prepared before powder coating. Hell I have a skid plate underneath the T case that the PC is perfect on except where I drug it over rocks.

And for touch ups I just make sure the PC is about 50% to 60% shine so it is similar to Satin rattle can. I touch up bare metal scratches once a season of course but where the PC is untouched it lasts for years.

In comparison my rear bumper was welded on so it has rattle can from the start. I have to re-coat the entire thing every year due to rust. I am a firm believer in PC as a base coat.

I powder coated my front bumper. My sliders and rear are paint. My sliders get the occasional spot or two that needs fixing but my god my rear is a pain to keep up with. The previous owner was letting it rust away and when I got it I took a grinder to it all. But it's still a never ending battle lol

Jon, 45acp, gave me his rear bumper (no homo) and it was painted black when I got it. I painted it semi-gloss once about 3 years ago. Never touched it up.

Looks perfect except for the spot I scraped along a rock.

Hey, mall crawling is serious business :D

:notsure: I just think if you let them get too far gone without paint it comes to get you later. I grinded off every last piece of rust, or so I thought, but it still bubbles up in spots.

4xInnovations... Biggest issue is that I had to cut down the legs several inches... Now that they're welded on I wish I had cut more off

I love mine! I wish I would have cut some inches off though. They stick out way too far.

the main bar of mine lines up with the outer edges of my tires which is fine, but the kickout sticks out too far IMO. Oh well. No complaints otherwise, worked great on several Moab trails :D

also, after welding the legs to the main bar I should have painted the legs/sliders before welding the legs onto the frame. Painting the whole thing after welding was annoying

Try having that kickout sticking out even farther than that! I have been contemplating cutting off 2-3" and getting them welded back on. I am affraid to even find out how much that would cost me though.

No problems at all welding them up. It was as if they had my 4R at the production site to measure for an exact fit. Paid the extra $100 for the DOM tubing for just under $475 delivered.
