They said it isn't so bad to where it needs to be replaced right now but it will be in a year or two, especially wheeling.

Is that the name of a shop? Where is it?

X2 they don't seem super active. Or maybe their site is so popular but they want to be more low-key. At any rate, we don't drive jeeps, so we wouldn't be invited. Only a few non-jeep owners there.

Looks good! Wish we could swing one of those.

    good times!
Ended up with 295/65/18 Duratracs-- 3rd generation bumpers are further into the wheel well it seems...I would have to trim the bumper...and I'm not sure how good that would be on an angled bump with the bumper jabbing the tire 8^

I think you will be happy with the duratracs Sean. The Nitto are not loud though at all for a mud tire, I will agree they are heavy.

Well fudge. My timing belt change is not going well, to say the least.
Right now I'm waiting on a 3/4" drive impact socket for the next step but the writing is on the wall, the crank is about to become a paper weight.

I have the truck at my favorite mechanic, replacing the front wheel bearings and the timing belt. Bearings are already done.
They are having trouble removing the crank bolt. The guy doing the work is actually a certified Toyota mechanic and has done more than a few of these...
Normal procedure didn't work, bumping the starter didn't work, heat has been applied...

They actually called me a bit ago and explained what could happen, worst case being the bolt snaps and the crank gets replaced, how do I want to proceed?

I decided to have them give it another attempt, thinking the bolt might just round off and then fuck it, put it back together and drive it until the belt breaks.

The harmonic balancer broke instead

So a harmonic balancer is available no problem, but still need the bolt removed, and prolly a new crank seal at this point...if all "goes well" from this point forward, fine, shit happens.

But like I said, something is very wrong with how tight this bolt is, I suspect the last guy may have cross threaded the damn thing.
    :(

Welp, I wasn't happy with 33's and wanted bigger

Did some cutting (Thanks InSainFab) to the bumper...
325/65/18 duras were hitting the frame ....
So, since DT will have to sell my tires used, I went with some Nitto TG G2 (newer tire they came out with..from what ice read / watched on YouTube, seems to handle quite well and does well in all conditions)
    295/70/18..so it's a 34.25 I think.

The worst part...waiting for the phone call.
I'm actually looking for a new ride right now, found a 96 4runner with half the miles of mine for $4200. Appears to have electrical problems is why the price is so low. Might go take a look at it.

Can I interest you in a set of 37x12.50R16?
Comes with the wheels, which I think fit
    the Tundra 5 on 5.5?

over 80% tread left on them

Wow, that is some Torque. much more than what keeps the main rotors on the Army Helicopters I used to work on.

I don't know why it would be that tight, but at least it's off. The very first time I changed it was with my father in law, and we just hit it with a regular impact and it came off just fine. The last time it was changed I had the dealership do it, they must use a bigger torque wrench.
Now I'm waiting on a new bolt, the old one is prolly still good but at this point I want a nice clean head and thread. The rest is there ready to go. Best case tomorrow afternoon, worst case sometime late next week. Again, waiting on the call. But it will be a much happier conversation at this point.:)

Was it cross-threaded? No way in hell did another human being set that with hand tools and to set it to that torque w/air tools would take an obscene amount of retardation. Either way, I'd scrap the crank bolt and study the crank itself carefully before reusing those parts. Sounds cross-threaded to me and you'd likely have some galling on the inner threads of that crank shaft.

SOB Brett I fab up a tool to get that bolt off I have the same problem with my crank bolt. It bolts up to the balancer and part of it leans on the frame then you could get a socket in the middle to break the bolt. Wish I would've known I would have let you borrow it.
