I'm with you I think the new format is kinda crap aswell. The old way just worked better IMO.

My buddy is a LCSO Deputy and I get to tag along sometimes on the more exciting things like this. lol

Your wrists must owe you money to want to own something like that.

Says the shotgun fanboi. Asks for reasons why I don't think the shitgun is a good HD weapon and then doesn't read response. Go shoot your scatter gun loser!

I was trying to think more of how to word that and I clearly missed the mark. I meant more that 50-something guy who goes on and on about how he could shoot the dick off of a skeeter at 1000yds w/o ruffling the balls using an M1 Garand w/surplus ammo, open sights and not wearing his glasses. He'll tell you J frames are where it's at because it's impossible for them to fail. He'll then go on and on about how the .45acp is the ONLY handgun cartridge because a heavy denim jacket will bounce 9mm off. For his final act he'll say that a lever action is the most tactical rifle on the face of the earth and all this new fandangled black stuff is just for looks and slows things down. That group of folks is very set in their advice and more often than not don't even speak from a position of personal experience. They say that for HD the shotgun is hands down the best option because you just have to point it in the general direction and it will hit everything and won't go through walls and all these other magical features that simply aren't accurate. I mean shit, if half of those things were true I'd say you couldn't go wrong with a shotgun either. But they aren't and the fact remains that a shotgun is probably the worst option for the majority of homeowners out there for all the reasons I mentioned.

There are a few people here who have decent information but they're mostly blowhards so take all the gun advice you get here with a grain of salt. ;-)

Good idea. Now you just need to enact change at the state & federal level to make that legal. In the meantime, I'll stick to rock throwing.

Get a dog. Even the little yappy ones are a great theft deterrent.
Bigger ones with teeth and globs of drool are even better.

Dogs, cameras, alarm signs, alarms, smart home accessories that tell you when doors & windows are opened or when doors are locked or unlocked on your smart phone instantly. Then make sure you actually lock your doors & keep your garage doors closed. Reinforce all of your hinges and deadbolts. You'd be amazed at how quickly you can kick a front door in in most homes. One properly placed kick and the door blasts open w/o much resistance. Remove all of your hinge and deadbolt screws (usually 3/4") and replace them with 3" or longer high grade screws that go into the 2x4's instead of just the cheap molding/trim most anchor to. Vary your patterns of when you're home. Be friendly with your neighbors so they can keep an eye on your place for you. Layers of security is your best bet. A firearm should be your last course of action should they get through everything else which should be more than enough of a deterrent for most criminals who seek easy targets. Don't be an easy target would be my best advice to you.

Yes. I click my name then click signature and when the window pops up it only gives me the option to preview or save changes. That's it. Nothing to upload file like other threads. Maybe there is something I'm missing.
