    What haven’t I changed?
 Yikes! Be safe out there!

You're welcome to use my old and slightly-bent spindle if you want to limp along for a few weeks, but with the work involved in replacing a spindle I would say just get a new one and do all of that once.

Damn, you did it in pretty good. Is the alignment just off, or can you see bent part(s)?

it was all jacked up right as we started down the dirt road leaving Coney Flats, then we got down to rt72 and you could clearly see the alignment was jacked up big time. some say you could see the bent spindle, i myself couldn't see much of a difference side to side. We were just hoping that eric was able to make it home without also shredding his michelins.

Keep me posted on where you are going to source the spindles from eric, i might wanna purchase a backup set and gusset those.

He had a blast though!!! Proof, and was in good spirits the entire time.6ffc9aa60f04d6af6f833b62e1a8f4c2_195420bb73577bb334d5cb7d5adaf3ddcc69ff41.jpg

At least you didn't have to ride a uhaul home like I did from RT this year. Welcome to the spindle club...if that's a thing.

now that you mention it.... let's bring the tires into it :D

Before I go there though.... I should mention that at one point, Phil hinted that I might not have been as prepared as I should be.
I say that he's failed to take into account that I went wheeling with A) a good photographer and B) a grip of toyota techs
In my opinion, that's REALLY well prepared :D

So... @thefatkid and his fellow technicians diagnosed the bent spindle and proceeded to perform a roadside, tape measure alignment. (courtesy of @Rancherboy's tape measure)

Despite some difficult tie rod ends (torch, ATF, pump pliers, etc.) they managed to get the toe pretty close. (Basically bottomed the passenger side tie rod out)

The camber was still wonky as hell though. Here's a view from the front: / |
I was warned that if I tried to drive it home like that, it would shred my tire.
What they failed to take into account though is that I was running..... wait for it.....

    Michelins FTMFW!

Here's my passenger front tire when I got home
    [IMG]

I think you can just tell that there's a little wear on the inside.

TL;DR: @thefatkid and his guys :headbang: and Michelins :headbang:

why isn't this in the trip reports thread?

    I'll be by tomorrow.

Maybe head down to Yota Jims and pick up a spindle while I'm at it. Meaning to fix this for a while. Eric, thanks for motivating me by screwing up your truck first! My bent spindle only causes minor alignment issues....

i asked the dumb question yesterday to the guys with knowledge. "so can you bend one coming down off a rock hard, or hitting a rock hard while climbing it?" the answer was simple

    YES

This is how I did it - Step 1: Find a group of baby seals you wish to club. Step 2: Go to Rock Therapy 2015 and go up Top of The World. Step 3: On the first obstacle, get surprised by the second of many steps in the obstacle in hit the accelerator. With accelerator pressed, launch your truck about 18-14 inches into the air. Step 4: Destroy spindle on upon your return to earth. Step 5: Club baby seals.

    ....worth it.

Steps 6-15 omitted due to violent nature and near break-up by girlfriend who was in the passenger seat during steps 2-4.

    ....not worth it.
