painting is only slightly better than grout, lol. I did the trim (painted) around the back door and garage today too. also caulked a few windows that needed it. tomorrow, I get to replace a couple shingles that went away at some point. I don't care for heights so that should be exciting.

I'll try and get some pics up of my water damage/woodpecker damage repairs. My last 4 weekends have been all house, all day, sometimes the weekend is 4 days (like this last one). It makes you think sometimes. At least I'll own it when I'm 58.......

I have a feeling I will be doing this next summer. My roof is aged and I've been procrastinating hard and will most likely pay dearly for that.

    Living the dream.
There is some kind of pecking bird here that loves to rap on the metal chimney cap at the wee hours of the morning.
Sucks they got through your wall, sounds like a mess.
I had a bird nest in the bathroom exhaust vent tube in the crawlspace one year. That was a mess, dries bird shit everywhere, egg shells, feathers, the stink. I installed heavy screen over all the potential entrances after cleaning that shit up.

Pretty much 2/3 of my neighborhood has had roof work done after this summer of fun.....

No birds here, but we found a large wasp nest while replacing the roof and gutters..... They were quite pissed when I killed off their young ones and sealed them off in a tomb

Yea, when pulling the siding and boards down behind it I found a couple nests. I got stung in the back of the head, 20ft up on the ladder. Sucks trying to scoot fast down a extension ladder.

So Eric and I were talking spindle gussets again this weekend, as to which of the two TCs are going to better brace the spindle. I believe that they will both support the spindle/UCA hole equally given their design, and the sway version will support the rest of ti better than the non-sway, any other thoughts? My non-sways have cracked right at the base where the gusset meets the spindle by the tie rod arm, twice.

Really think about what that is telling you.

    1. The welding process is cooling too fast causing tension in the bracket that eventually leads to a crack.

    2. You are hitting stuff with enough force that the bracket is not enough to keep the spindle from bending.

Have you asked that question in the LT forum?

Agreed, I was thinking the brace to the tie arm would help on both cases. I have a new used set that I will be gusseting and trying to decide which to go with. I have not headed there next.

So one of my oil remediation systems is a glorified diesel air compressor, and that Diesel engine lost 1.5 gallons of coolant through (John Deere 4024) a new timing cover leak......

Official fix from managemen - just put stop leak in till it fixes it.......

Best part is it runs on a timer unattended for 8-40 hours

As far as I know. Haven't really inspected it. And I trust my friend that welded everything up since that's what's he does for a living on navy ships. (He not in the navy)
