So I picked up a rino 650 gps radio yesterday. Anyone know if I need a license through the fcc to uses the GMRS channels? I know there are some HAM radio guys on here that can help me out. Figured those channels would let us be farther apart and still stay in communication while hunting.

I don't know about the HAM aspect, how much range you looking to get?
I've got a pair of el cheapo Midlands that get between 1-3 miles depending on terrain. My brothers camp and my camp are a mile apart and the reception is clear. Of course if we're on opposite sides of the ridge, there's no communication.

Yeah I read those I was just asking if anyone knew from personal experience. If it's just worth me paying for the license so I can use the channels. It has frs/GMRS channels frs and GMRS specific channels as well. I know I can use the shared and frs without a license.
I had the el cheapo radios and where we go they don't do well. Everyone had these last year and I demoed one last year and they did great. But from what I'm reading the GMRS has more distance than the frs when used at 5watts

I need help from the 3.4L guys. I tried installing a fuel line I got off a extended cab with fuel filter but it was a foot to short. My original fuel line doesn't have a fuel filter in it like the 3.4L. So Im considering adding a filter on the end of the original fuel line in the engine compartment and making another small extension to go to the motor. I really don't think it matters where the filter is in the line as long there is one there (correct me if i'm wrong). Here are some pics of what I'm considering.

All I'll have to do is bend the original line back to the filter location and add a small fuel line to the original fuel line location. Your guys thoughts on this will appreciated.

Do it. The filter can be anywhere you want.

Yes, you "need" a license to operate GMRS. For the shared channels it's more about transmit power than the channel. Actually it's more about power period, it's just some channels are reserved for certain use. And obviously more transmit power will have a greater range. Not really sure what you're looking for in terms of personal experience. I can tell you I've never heard anyone use a call sign on a GMRS channel.

I haven't use a Rhino since they first came out, but they weren't very good radios back then. My roommate and I did a test where we had a pair of those and a pair of Midlands. We biked apart and checked in at certain points, and found the Rhinos had a much shorter range than the Midlands. They might have improved them since then, and my Midlands aren't el-cheapo range, but a step or two up from that.

Yeah the new ones are pretty awesome in terms of an all in one radio. We were covering several miles, even back to camp in some of the areas which was nice. And having the hunting cards in them with the BLM land/private land boundaries and contact info for the private land owners is nice plus all the parks listed. So do I just go online and pay for the license or do I take a class? As far as that goes as long as it's not a crazy fee I'll just pay it to use the radio to its fullest potential.

    Thanks for the info!
