Better to ask what I have not done.
Speaking of locking doors..... Not really. Who has a remote start and do you like it.

Really and reputable brand would do well to deter a car thief. I believe you can also get a go phone with GPS to use as a "fracker"

While this makes a great deterrence I'm sure if a thief wants it bad enough, they'll get it...just like anything else.

Had one in my last Tundra and plan on getting it again.

I do. I just want to be able to find it if it gets snagged.

I do. It's freaking amazing. Now I'm sad if I have to use a vehicle without it lol.

I just want something good. Car Toys had something called a Dart that worked similar. LoJack you don't have to make any monthly payments. I dunno. Internet googling doesn't seem to be helping me much on different options or brands.

I'm just seeing a lot of peoples stuff stolen lately and I wouldn't know what to do with myself if mine got taken. So I'd rather be safe.

FWIW, many departments do not carry LoJack devices in their vehicles any longer...

depending on the tracking device, I'd be concerned of privacy issues. Most with reliable gps tracking will charge a fee and whatever information they have about you can be stolen or hacked. Such as places you visit frequently and the time of day you're there.
I found several tracking devices through Google, but would be leery of most of them.

I thought about it, but then I couldn't really use my remote start :anonymous:

I'm not really sure what to do at this point. :(

Use motion sensor lights out front. I found one at Home Depot that is solar powered and requires no wiring. It's been going for a year now. I kind of like it when I pull in and it comes on.

You could do an alarm system, most people ignore them anyway.
I have a friend in California that I visited once many years ago who had a small red LED mounted on the dash in a conspicuous area that was hooked to a switch under the dash.
That's all it was, a visual deterrent.

Our place has motion sensor lights on all sides already. So got that covered lol.

I do need an alarm, plan was to add it onto my remote start but apparently the original salesguy was wrong about that so I need a whole new system.

But I really do want some sort of tracker. And alarm doesn't do much good if the truck takes off lol.

I hear car alarms here and don't even bother to look. I curse at them for disturbing my silence and train of thought. For all I know the car is actually being stolen and as far as I'm concerned get that pos out of here as fast as possible or shut the damn alarm off.
:D Calling somebody that gives a damn isn't even on the list.
Years of those damn things going off for no reason has turned them into an annoyance and not a deterrent. Be honest, what goes through your mind when you hear one going off?

You've addressed the issues with locking the doors and the motion lights.
Keep interesting stuff out of sight in the inside, park it to keep it visible.

Maybe pick up some high voltage capacitors and wire them up to produce a shock capable of voiding a bladder when they try the door handle. Don't have to make the whole truck hot, just the handles.

But if you do find something I would be interested in knowing how it works and if it's worth it so keep us posted.

Just keep good insurance coverage on your vehicles. If someone steals mine I don't want it back. I'll get something else. That being said I have cameras on my vehicles from my house, but that only helps at home.

Mad Max... Rig up some explosives to a fingerprint scanner, put it on a 10 minute timer. If you can't have your vehicle, nobody can. All the better if the thief is still inside when it self destructs.
