What did you do for your rear setup?

 

Nothing yet still running my billies and all pro leaf pack.

Saving up the pennies. I think ADS (or some company they know) have a shock relocation kit where you can put socks with resi's in the rear too. I might go that route. My other option was just cutting through the bed since I have two rust spots anywho but I might just do the relocate eventually. Will be ADS to match.

Most here can attest the difference of the front and rear from our last TW brewery meet when we took my truck over a speed bump.

has anyone here tried yellow LED bulbs for their fog lights? I'm considering whether I want to try them or if I should just get yellow halogen bulbs. I'm hoping someone has some firsthand experience to share.

 

Not sure you can get the proper LED to fit in a fog light housing. Go Halogen.

 

Holy shit I'm glad to be off the road. Left bham at 9AM yesterday. Stopped in Columbia MO and finished about 30 minutes ago. Still have to drive to DIA at 9 tonight unless someone else wants to pick up Rochelle for me.....

Don't know if it makes a big difference but I'm hesitant to put LED bulbs in headlights or fog lights, etc because snow/ice can build up on the lens and the LEDs don't generate enough heat to melt it.

Can anyone recommend me a local gunsmith that you trust to go over my AR build. Last year we built my brother one the exact same way minus some upgrades. All parts ordered in a pair ive just been waiting til we were together again to build mine. He took his to the guy we know in Alabama. They set the flash supressor, gas tube/block and barrel nut to spec. Looking for someone to do the same since I'd like the peace of mind although I have little doubt, it's all milspec stuff. Who do you use?

 

We go to a guy down in down town Littleton and or my uncle has a buddy that's a big gun nut and owns a store and does a lot of that stuff(building ars and other toys). I just don't remember if he is a "gun smith" credential wise.

 

pm me the details of the guy in Littleton. My brothers was spot on according to the guy I've always used but I didn't have time to get it to him before I came back here. I'm itching to go shoot it of course

 

If they don't generate heat why do the headlight ones have a big fan on the back of them to keep them cool?

In one sense this is true: LEDs are cool to the touch because they generally don't produce heat in the form of infrared (IR) radiation (unless of course they are IR LEDs).
IR radiation heats the enclosures and surroundings of incandescent bulbs and other sources, making them hot to the touch. The absence of IR radiation allows LED fixtures to be positioned in locations where heating from conventional sources would cause a particular problem e.g. illuminating food or textiles.
However, crucially, heat is produced within the LED device itself, due to the inefficiency of the semiconductor processes that generate light. The wall-plug efficiency (optical power out divided by electrical power in) of LED packages is typically in the region of 5-40%, meaning that somewhere between 60 and 95% of the input power is lost as heat.

The energy consumed by a 100-watt GLS incandescent bulb produces around 12% heat, 83% IR and only 5% visible light. In contrast, a typical LED might produce15% visible light and 85% heat.
Especially with high-power LEDs, it is essential to remove this heat through efficient thermal management. Without good heat sinking, the internal (junction) temperature of the LED rises, and this causes the LED characteristics to change..

They definitely produce heat, but I think it's all in the heat sink, and not in the lens itself where it could help melt the ice. At these current temps though, even my old school sealed beams are icing up.
