Yeah it's the boxes, junk, and other stuff. If it was just brass it's not a big deal as I see a lot of brass scavengers out there.

It is every other year now? I've had 2 years off, still undecided this year. It no longer changes pay so I lost motivation.

To any of you that reside in Denver County: how much are you charged to renew your vehicle tags each year? A good friend of mine pays $680 per year for his 2014 4runner but this doesn't sound right to me. Then again, the DMV works in mysterious ways...

I live in Jefferson county but when I first registered my '13 Tacoma it was in the $600 range. It has gone down each year but is still a couple hundred bucks at least.

We just had a thread on this a little bit ago, but I'm not sure anyone in there was in Denver County: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-much-did-you-all-pay-to-get-your-license-tags.392918/

$680 doesn't sound unreasonable for a newer vehicle, but only in the first year or two. It really should be dropping after that. It follows a formula that isn't all that mysterious, though for some reason Denver doesn't want to publish their version of it. There's a sliding scale based on age - take 85% of MSRP, then you take that number times the following rates:
    1st Year 2.1%
    2nd Year 1.5%
    3rd Year 1.2%
    4th Year .9%
    5th - 9th Year .45%
    10th Year and older $3.00

That covers your ownership tax. Then you have to tack on the license plate fees which are per county and weight of the vehicle. Some counties have more fee components than others. Arapahoe says $41 (for a full breakdown of that fee, see the link I posted in that other thread that mentions page 4). Larimer was $80, including a $23 road and $18 bridge fee.

New vehicles are exempt for x model years. When I bought mine in 2007, it was only five. Now it's seven. After that it's every other year. You won't need emissions until 2018, unless they change something. Which, for the record, is currently $25.

Going to make a magnetic gopro mount using the mount plate that was part of the packaging and some neodymium magnets I got from Amazon.
