Yep here in Boulder we have over a foot so far. Here a pic I took this morning at about 4" of snow. Love that way my truck looks in the snow.

 

And I'm still stuck behind a desk looking at all the fresh snow on the mountain wishing I was snowboarding.






Oh, and all you front rangers need to learn how to drive in the snow

 

I wish there was snow in Pueblo. It's just windy.

Is it necessary to change gear ratio when you go bigger tires 35's?

It is highly recommended. Not rehearing will put a lot of stress on your tcase and transmission. You are moving a lot more weight then stock.

 

So what is the recommended ratio?

 

4.56 would put you back to stock ratio with 35s

I am going 4.88. 4.56 is not enough for the mountains. but I have a first gen.

 

I am digging all the Tacoma's with toppers and all the mods. Is there a good topper place in Denver area?

 

So is different (higher) gear just have deeper teeth to carry the weight of the rotation?

 

No when we talk about gear ratios 3.73, 4.10, 4.56, 4.88..... Thats the number of times your drive shaft has to spin to rotate the axle one time.

 

No it will just keep me in the power band and put a lot less stress on my rig. I also have an offroad pop up trailer and it is a bear to pull in the mountains with 4.10.
