Going from 29 inch tires to 35 inch tires you are going to move 1.21 times further per rotation so going from stock 3.73 gears (my trucks stock gears) to 4.56
Is a change of 1.22x further so they equal out to stock.

Think of a bicycle and how hard it is to pedal up hill in the smallest sprocket campaird to the largest one.

So do you change the draft shaft when you change the gear ratios to lets say 4.56?

Lol it just a old Colman with a axle flip and bigger tires. I am going to sell it and get a Coleman E1 this spring. They are lifted even more and I can put on a set of tires that match mine. Plus they are a lot lighter and shorter.

 

Sorry I have so many dumb questions. But this is very helpful for me as I make my bucket list for my Tacoma.

 

No all you are changing is the 3rd member in the the rear axle and the clam shell up front. Or you are changing just the gears in the diffs.

 

I may need some help one of these days during mod days

 

Speaking of, Leo i have a thrid and front clam shell laying around if you want it to regear..

Save them!!! I need to stop holding on to the ones i have from my old truck. They dont fit in my new truck...

 

I bought mine on CL and then had it painted to match. Cost me around $900 instead if $2600 for a new one. Plus I got the yakima rack for free with it. That saved me another $400.
