The "cheaper" places people are talking about aren't cheap.

    http://www.trulia.com/real_estate/Erie-Colorado/

If a median home price of 390k is affordable in a city where the median income isn't a whole lot north of 50k then I'm completely out of touch. Frederick, dacono, Firestone, yeah they are a bit more affordable, but if you're hoping for a home built in the last 1-5 years you better set the bar north of 400k. You can maybe land a beat up 20 year old home in the 250-300 range but even then, it's tough.

I sold and bought a new home in late 2014 so I have a pretty good grasp on the areas people are mentioning. I ended up in a newer home in northeast Thornton and my neighborhood is in the 400k + range and it is already a 6 year old home. The brand new homes that are going up each time I turn my head are into the 500k and up range.

To whoever asked about close dia distance, northeast Thornton, Brighton will get it done if you choose to stay north. I'm about 1 mile from e470 and I can be to dia in 15-20 minutes. I'm also 5 miles or so from i25. It's a good compromise. 136th/Quebec for reference.

Denver is a big city by any measure... NYC is GINORMOUS... Denver is the 21st in the nation in population. Saying it's a small city is like saying A Vette isn't a sports car because it's slower than a Bugatti

Colorado Springs is still a decent size, but I'd accept that as a small city (42 in the nation btw), Ft Collins is a small city

You need to visit Portland OR... Denver is like a larger diluted Portland... Portland has better food, bars, and music IMO...

Just ordered some parts for the truck (and house and GF).

    Wilson 4' whip antenna
    Firestick stud mount
    Wolfgang Tire/Wheel Cleaner
Gas struts for my topper rear glass. Tired of propping it open with my head or Hi Lift bar.

    (2) six pack of organic wool dryer balls

ehh portland gets a bad rap... Yes it rains... but mostly in the winter... though the valley effect does make it dreary and hang around when it does rain. but that's also what makes it gorgeous and green.

That being said... I plan on moving back to Bend OR in central Oregon... about the size of Pueblo, and very much similar weather.

I hear ya... I truly want to visit Portland, Seattle and the PacNW. Seems unbelievable.

I lived in Vermont for three years prior to moving to CO. Very green, gorgeous, etc... but cloudy from Oct to May. Brutally cold winters (I truly had no idea what winter was until I moved up there). But I lived on Lake Champlain and it was an awesome place to be in spring, summer and fall.

I'll be sure to make sure she doesn't see this post. She still wants to meet you one day.

But one of those sets of dryer balls is for me too :anonymous:

Problem is all that weather rolls in off the coast and backs up against the Cascades. It's not just winter, also spring and fall. If it's not raining, it's cloudy or just miserably drizzling all freaking day.

It's gorgeous in the summer, IF they have a good summer.

Oh trust me, I grew up there, you do get that year round... but the majority of the shitty weather is in the winter. no it's not 300+ days of sun like Denver, but it's not cloudy/raining every day think the count is 177... but then again... Denver's count is a bit off too... I think they count the days that the sun makes an appearance even if it snowed a foot...

Same here, grew up across the river in Vancouver and the weather there made me absolutely miserable. I could never live in the PNW again, maybe someplace east of the Cascades....Bend would be a great area

Nice... yeah not saying it's reputation for rain isn't founded in truth... I just feel like it's exaggerated... but then again... it's been going on 15 years since I lived there. lol but regardless, you're right... still shittier than Denver 90% of the time.

Bend is where it's at.
