OMG that is freaking hilarious! Images you find are just classic.

 

It's a popular snow bashing run (or always has been on local forums), but basically until it just becomes flat out impassable.

Auto or manual? Because the auto is good for like 100k or more theoretically, and in order to 'check the fluid level' there is a lengthy process involved. Unless you have a reliably demonstrable problem, I wouldn't expect them to check it for free.

There isn't? I saw several obvious campsites off spurs Like CR 559.1 near the pass. Of course that was before the fire and maybe I was just seeing the designated sites. Also must see things include watching water in the creek for a while at the edge of the dunes, and you'll probably want to check out Zapata Falls just up the road though it too will likely be crowded.
