I shoot Canon, so I can't tell you anything about how to use Nikon beyond the things that apply to all cameras (or that are similar enough not to matter, like the green icon and P - or for that matter most things between Nikon and Canon are about the same, with slightly different implementations). The subtleties, which is what would matter with how to use that specific model, would have to come from a Nikon user. As far as taking good pictures, again that all pretty much is the same regardless of camera. Learn the basics of composition (like the rule of thirds); what aperture and shutter speed are/do, how they interact, and how to use them for the effect you want to get; and practice - take a lot of pictures, see what you like and what you don't, and note why you like something (including/especially other's work). If you've got specific questions on how something was done or why something isn't doing what you want, those are much easier questions to answer. I suggest green because that's full-auto, the camera takes care of everything itself, while the P is slightly less but still mostly auto. That's the setting (P aka Program AE [AE meaning auto-exposure]) I use unless I need to change it for a very specific reason.

I wondered why the hell the vehicle exploded in mid-air so long after the initial blast - you'd have thought it was Hollywood. I couldn't track down the story though in the five minutes I spent looking.

I have the 5100. Takes good pictures. Let's just say the camera takes better pictures than the guy holding it. Definitely operator limited at least for me.

Ironically there was an equally sized blue one parked next to it moments before but this, it's black. I know the build thread but can't remember name, maybe Matt? It has made me want the trail gear bumper though.
