I couldn't explain a lot on my phone with the guys running around and the general air of chaos that is discount tire...
So the 17x8's 0 Backspacing, were less than a 1/2" from rubbing the UCA. But they did clear.
The problem was at full lock on the rear of the frame. Plus they were close to the fender, but that was expected.
My current tires rub the frame now, but not too bad.
The new tires were bad. Like losing 10-20% of my turning radius. Got worse as the suspension compressed. Frame would have needed cut or the dreaded wheel spacers installed, which really don't want to do.

The 17 x 9 with -12 offset gave it a full 1 1/2" of clearance at the UCA. Cool.
At full lock, there was about 1/2" of clearance at the frame. At compression there will be some rubbing, not sure how much but it won't be as bad, hopefully no worse than what I have now. will still need to bash the firewall, maybe tubbed too, won't know until I stuff them. I feel better about an alloy wheel too. And they looked pretty good, I actually like the look of the first one better though.

They had them in stock in Denver. I should have them by Monday.
I'd drive down and get them but I-25 just sucks so much ass right now, not worth the stress or cost. Plus they are down on the South end.

Lincon 140 or 180 if you want to stay in the lower prices 180 can do dual voltage so you can plug into either or

    X2, loving mine.

After pricing all the options and keeping an eye out on craigslist, I just decided to invest in a good machine that will do everything I need and then some and last for long while.

bashing complete, for now... Gained close to an inch, prolly not in the right places. I just went for it in the obvious spots. Shot a load of silicone on all the seams inside and out. Trimmed the interior kick panels about 1/2" so they sit like they should again. That's A good sign I guess that I actually gained some room. Trimmed some overhang off the flares too. No pics, use your imagination. It's a hammer job.

Is it Monday yet? Actually looking forward to Monday. :D

It all depends on what you could get for a good price. For at home projects on your truck or whatever thin metal (anything smaller then 1/4") would be fine. I've mig with Hobart, Lincoln and miller. They all did well with those smaller metals. Hobart was impressive but not good as a Lincoln. The best welder was the miller. The arc stays very consistent.

All three will have good welds at the right setting. So that being said for a starter Lincoln would be good. If your willing to pay a little more shoot for a miller. Good luck

Edit: like Brian said Rebel is another one. I've heard cool things with it but I've never used one. I would like to.

Kept getting interrupted by neighbors, wife, etc so not done yet, but coming along nicely. Have to stop to go to a friend's for dinner now :annoyed:

I hate leaving shit incomplete for the next day.
