Yep, police were called. I've thought about adding signs to the side of the community mailboxes around the area, to get the word out.

Had a similar situation years ago where I was the person who witnessed a thief, who has done multiple break-ins in the same location (marina versus a neighborhood). Dude looked just like Sideshow Bob, and after passing that description around, he showed up again on the property during the day a month later and the employees immediately knew it had to be him (no, really, he could have passed for Sideshow Bob). The funny part was the guy tried to swim his way out of the situation in the river, but the two employees chased him in a dingy waiting for him to come ashore (taunting him the whole time)... which gave the police a ton of time to arrive and set a perimeter, which worked. There were many break-ins documented, and given the tools the guy had with him, it was clear he was the culprit. Turns out the break-ins ended after that.

I mentioned to my wife some folks go that work route (was reading on another board about someone who had an ammo shipment stolen, and that was suggested), but it's a route that doesn't work for us. But, still good to bring up for others out there who are reading.

Apparently Amazon has a network of secure locations/lock boxes to which they can direct a shipment. They'll send you a code to enter to open the box. Another option, if there's a convenient location.

It's best to let them out two or three times a day.

    Didn't come with a manual?

Archer was kenneled for just over a year after he dug up the fig tree. He's got the run of the house now when I'm gone and still hangs in the kennel occasionally.

IMO crate training is the best thing you can do for a dog.
My boxers are assholes when we're gone and they'd destroy the house if we left them out.

But they love their crates and they have no problem going in them when we leave.

They're open all day when we're home and they go nap in them all the time.

Zoiks! My boxer was good to go by four months old, got her at 8 weeks... Never needed it after that. Had it easy. And she happens to be the prettiest boxer ever!

Ya some people have it easy. my family has always kenneled our dogs for about 18 months. then we leave the kennel open for free roam at all times of the day.
