For rust to sneak under and fester like a band-aid over an infected wound.

My sliders came with powder coat for free... I painted over it and when they get scraped, the rust sneaks further and further under the PC. I was under there last night with the flap disc grinding off powder coat covered rust from original pinholes. :annoyed:

IMHO, powder coat looks great, just never scrape it. So it's good for 90% of JKs.

If they did a shitty "free" powder coat without media blasting the metal and properly cleaning it, then yes I could see that happen. If done correctly like my Slee sliders that have been beat on since 2008, you will not have this problem. I just rattle can the scrapes and keep on living life.

You know, hidden sliders sort of like "sleeper" race cars. Stupid auto correct. :D

They were the sliders off the RCI 2nd gen, so they had some age prior to me getting them, but not used in a slider fashion. I scuffed them and painted over them. No signs of being scraped or powder coat wearing off other than the rock chip prone surfaces.

I've touched them up quite a few times after they get used, but moisture still finds a way to burrow further under the powder coat than it appears... And i typically sand a good area around the scrapes.
