Come up North. Fort Collins/Loveland/Windsor are all cheaper and you're only an hour from Denver.

That is sick!! Haha sorry. I'm used to much worse. A rental house near me that size is probably around 4k.

My GF and I have the small bedroom in a 900 sq ft 2 bedroom apartment that we split with another couple and pay 1600.

    That's your only warning.

    Don't let it happen again.

Its bad, but not terrible, and area matters a lot as well. I am on the upper north end of Denver, so I am away from all the hustle and bustle, and idiots...

Because I have 0 savings since I spend it all on housing and other bs that California decides should be astronomically expensive. I don't like LA. Denver fits our lifestyle much more. Camping, wheeling, snow, just all around more beautiful place. It's always been where I've wanted to end up.

A lot of the same reasons a lot of people leave so cal. Sorry for being one of them, I know you guys hate it, but you got a way better place to live. I know traffic can get bad in Denver but I sit in a car for 5 hours a day to go 50 miles round trip.

Traffic can get bad, and honestly it depends on what time you go somewhere, or if there is a sporting even in town. I go in early and leave before the heavy rush, it works for me.

If it's any help @SixthSnail, my wife and I bought a 2800 sq/ft 3 bed 3 bath tri-level home with unfinished basement (big enough for another 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom) and our mortgage is like $1500 a month. We originally did get lucky when we moved here cus we got hooked up with this 800 Sq/ft loft style finished basement of a HUGE house and only paid $750 a month, included utilities.

If you're in a position to BUY, then BUY. Don't waste your money on rent if you don't have to. Unless you find a screaming deal like we did and can save some money up for something more permanent.

Or just wait another couple of years to buy in the inevitable housing market crash.

It's as if we never learned anything from '08.
