we'll be staying in Salina, KS waiting for it to hit. We could get deployed to anywhere within 150 miles of there.

It's interesting that the viking rope's thimble was installed with just a long bury that was stitched.

This new rope's metal thimble was installed with a locking brommel and about half the bury.

Wonder which I should use to install the viking thimble on the new line?

You can do a proper brommel with access to only one end, but not with the thimble. Same reason why I have to unspool the line to get the damn thing off.

Factor55's demos show just passing the short end through the long end twice.

The Bury was good enough for many years. I think my last 3 lines only used the Bury. The Brommel looks interesting though and offers no easy way to come undone. The Brommel wouldn't make a great trail repair but because you have the line out it seems worth it at this point

I used to own a Yukon. That thing was a tank. It was my DD and took it all over the country and it never let me down. It had 151,000 miles when I traded it in for the Taco...when I originally bought the GMC it had about 30,000.

It did have the winking syndrome, though.
