Shop for gas at Bradley, Kings, Safeway, Sinclair or stations that only say "gas"? Many things can cause catalyst failure including poor fuel quality or crapy additives (seafoam treatments).

    Dare I say, oil consumption?

I don't think the duratracs are 100% bad tires. I actually think they are a good tire. Although I think they are the bottom of their category (snow rated AT) I would take the BFG, Cooper, Falken over the duratracs.

But "brand X" is the best! We all know, the only true off road tire that is perfect in every category............................... Michelin!

I'll echo @WillT and @TheMuffinMan and say that it looks like you have a sensible plan for your needs and stepping up to the next size tire from stock like a 265/75/16 or 265/70/17 would be decent for mostly highway driving with the occasional backcountry trail.

So you're thinking that it's more likely to be a cat issue and not a O2 sensor issue?

I've done it twice now, and while I do need an extension (8 or 12, can't remember), and the left bank is less convenient than the right... I haven't found it to be that big a deal. Yes, they come with different brand plugs in either side (manufacturing agreement). You'll have to go out of your way to repeat that though, almost every place including dealerships only carries one or the other.

But enough about this silly tire argument. Let's change the tune. :stirthepot: You shouldn't put iridium plugs in a 1GR-FE engine (that's the 4.0 V6 for those who don't know it), unless you're supercharged. It calls for copper for a reason. Numerous threads on this, two schools of thought. One of them is 'engineering! science!' and the other one is 'durn I hate changin' spark plugs'.

Wait, what internet engineer thinks the only benefit to Iridium plugs is extended service interval? Show me this magic!

The reality is that no air filled tire is completely safe from punctures. But it's still fun to make fun of your buddies' misfortune.
