Skid removal didn't change anything unfortunately.

Decided to play with tire pressure. It was a bit high! 38r/37f.

Dropped it to 34r/32f with no change in ride

Then decided to try the 4wd. I have read the threads and most say that jacked up bushing makes noise, I've never heard anything even trying to listen. And when this happens I'm usually in traffic or on a curvy road.

It definitely seems to eliminate the vibes when in 4wd. Currently making laps up and down coal Creek off 93, flat, straight, and good condition road.

False positive. Did a few more laps and it's back.

It's more "muffled" because of the lower tire pressure, but still as shitty of a ride as always. :pout:

    Bushing makes vibrations.
Never felt it in the wheel though.
Didn't you say you're feeling yours in the wheel?

Oh yeah. Steering wheel shakes side to side... At anything over 50-55. Which is why I'm pretty certain it's something up front.

I was thinking I'd be able to see if it was play in the steering rack by the tie rods moving in the video but they seem pretty solid.

The biggest issue is with it being there since new. If it happened suddenly or over time due to wear... It would help narrow stuff down.

About a year ago when I had the first alignment at big o in Glenwood, they didn't torque the LCA bolts down, so I could see that causing an issue since it took me a minute to realize it (hard to notice vibrations on top of existing vibrations).

    Are those complete axles?

I'm thinking about swapping one at a time or both out tomorrow just to eliminate it as a possibility since nothing else worked tonight. I guess it could make sense that one or both were out of balance from the factory...

I question the bushing on the steering column. Not the rack bushings

I found similar posts and checked that when it was new and first trying to diagnose the issue. It had/has slop in the steering assembly the whole time I've had it. This is "normal in a truck" according to Toyota.

The feeling is identical to three GM vehicles I've owned that had over a combined 500k miles, thankfully it's an easy/cheap fix on those. Their issues come from wearing out after lots of mileage... Toyota duplicates it right off the assembly line.

But I'll check it again when I go down there.

A small handful of select mods.
Well that rules out that out. I thought maybe if you ran upwards of 40psi normally that could be your issue. My truck rides like a dense brick anything over 35psi.

Mine doesn't and has never had slop.
There's the joint in the steering linkage, the rack, the mounting of the rack, and the tie rods.
I didn't see any movement of the tie rods in the video so I'd be checking all that other stuff.
Need a second person to rotate the wheel back and forth (just to the extent of the slop) while you look at everything.

Yeah, it's that same exact slop feeling that you felt is what the taco has had since i first got behind the wheel. On the Silverado, Tahoe, Escalade, that i fixed you just added some grease to the shaft once and it was good as new.

Done with my first breakfast, gonna go to the garage before i want to make breakfast number two.
