Because everyone is on this buy American kick and it needs to make the other manufacturers realize that people want the best bikes at a good cost. There too invested in factory rides and need to see what people want

 

I was drooling over a Beta 250rr race edition the other day.

My Old KTM 200 runs awesome, but could use several hundred dollars of other shit. Kinda makes me want to buy a new bike, but know I shouldn't. Really wish I could ride someone's 150 XC-W too. Damn KTM and discontinuing the 200.

 

Funny you say that, just rode the new 150 yesterday. Fun bike for sure and probably faster than my 02 200. It felt a lot more like a classic two stroke though. You'd really have to keep it on the pipe.

 

Pretty much everything I've read is saying that ktm's quality is declining. Possibly because of all the demand. Majority of people are saying don't buy newer than 2015.

 

Don't let my KTM comment fool you, I rode Yamaha my entire up bringing (started at 8, quit at 18 when I decided to go party my ass off, get a piece of paper, and acquire debt). I know KTM has had a lot of catching up to do over the years, but that still doesn't justify Yamaha essentially leaving their 2-stroke line the same year after year.

 

I rode Honda (trash) when I was learning, and then owned a, at the time, almost 10 year old yz125r and loved it. Well see how Yamaha does with their new 250 two stroke.

 

It seams like all the major players dropped there 2-stroke lines in favor of the 4. But can you blame them, when the 4stroke came onto the race scene it dominated and just blew the 2 strokes out of the water. There are still diehard 2smoke lovers ( @kashtyaatsi ) that they forgot about and made ktm so much more popular for those

 

Agreed. If the 2018 yz250 finally incorporates all of the changes people have been screaming about over the last decade-ish, it may be worth waiting for.

That's what I've heard and not sure that's what I want. That being said 200lbs sounds awesome. Also ridden 300s a fair amount and don't want one of those either.

Don't know what I've got going on this weekend, but that's only an hour away.

Lots of wheeling down there if you know where to look. Probably too much snow in the Gores to get anywhere that direction though.

 

My stepdad has a 300 Beta. That thing is a pig.

 

The 300 is a monster. Definitely understand why they nickname it a 3 stroke. Your best bet is probably too try and find a 2010-2015 200. Not an easy task.
