Tough to hear. My grandma woke up blind one day after years of dealing with the same condition...although she was much older. One of the most vibrant and successful persons that I have ever known...she gave up after that.

So, don't give up...and there is hope. Talked to a client the other day who has accelerated degeneration in both eyes and she was able to get into Johns Hopkins for a surgery to help mitigate the effects of the disease. She ain't rich or powerful--in her words. I'm in contact with her and I'll let you know what the procedure was, how it went, and who performed it.

For the probably fairly small set of you that own newer 4Runners (whatever gen 2015 is in), and happen to have the luggage racks... have you ever had an issue with the end caps on the side rails (part 10 at http://parts.toyotaofdallas.com/aut...l-v6-gas-engine/body-cat/luggage-carrier-scat )coming off, even if you don't use the rack for anything? A few times in the past I've noticed the rear passenger on my mom's was loose and snapped it back down. Apparently it completely blew off on their drive out here this year.

Also I was looking at cost of replacement if we have to go that route, and there's heavy duty without sunroof, 'regular' with sunroof, and heavy duty with sunroof. She has the sunroof, but I've no idea what 'heavy duty' means as they all look the same to me.
