Better to ask what I have not done.
And he is an engineer so he probably torque spec'ed everything and checked fluid levels before operation

What it really comes down to is I have mad jealousy for anyone with the ARB twin, so I have to justify my poor life decision of using a lowly MV50.

Thanks man. That really sucks about the lack of compatible fittings for the Smittybuilt. My MV50 is the same. And I have no ability to weld a 1/4" connector on.

At altitude this is borderline untrue:

The SuperFlow MV-50 inflates full size truck tires 25-35 PSI in under 2 minutes. If your car tires are needing inflating too, the MV-50 can easily take care of that in under a minute.

If you're an off road enthusiast and need to air up to get back on the black top, the SuperFlow MV-50 easily gets the job done on a tire up to 33 inches. The duty cycle for this tire inflator is 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off which is more than enough time to air up all four tires after a long day on the trails

It's not that bad, just don't leave the business end on the bumper and drive off like I did.:anonymous:

    Look at it this way,
1-You can say your's is bigger than Young Brett's.
2-It'll give Young Brett one more "big one" of yours to look at.

Correct, none of that is true. Don't go by X amount of minutes per X size of tire.
Plus, the air gets even thinner when it's cold. Cold+altitude=thin air.

On top of that they fail to mention that the CFM rating is with no pressure against the piston. Once the air pressure starts to build, the CFM drops. None of those compressors are pumping out what they claim in our state.,

For a given air pressure (read: altitude) the density of air is inversely proportional to the temperature. Check out the ideal gas law if you're curious and have some time to burn.

    lol, not in this case.
Altitude alone is enough to lessen the air pressure. Cold air drops air pressure even further. I dgaf about all that science shit, this is real world usage :D. I think we (I) are using the term improperly.
I've been doing this a long time. Let me put it this way, and you can come to your own conclusion over time as you air up under different situations.

It takes longer to fill a tire on a cold day at altitude than it does on a warm day at altitude. With a 12volt compressor. Always has and always will. When I find the article that discusses this, I'll post it up.

Maybe it just seems longer because I'm always airing up everybody else on those cold days while they sit on their butts in a warm seat and comment on how much faster my compressor is.
We're gonna put a stop to all that nonsense right now, If you got a bike pump, fill your own shit. I'll sit and watch and comment on how much faster my compressor is than a bike pump. :D :crapstorm:

I could see this being true. I would be interested to read the article if you do find it. My guess is that the CFM rate of the compressor goes down, the colder the temperature, because it has to work harder to compress the more dense air?

I dont know why, but I picture you muttering "...now you listen here you little shit..." as you began to type your above comment :rofl::rofl::D And thats ok. this wouldnt be the first or the last time I was proved wrong.

lol, no but I did roll my eyes.
you're right, every poindexter out there states that cold air is denser and pumps more volume than warm air. But the fact seems to remain, in my experience, that cold days at altitude take the longest to fill up. I'm not the only one in this group to comment on it either.

Beer = faster air up times. 2x the beer in cold weather = CO2 style air ups. Everyone knows this. You are just doing it wrong OLDER man! :D
