Through the shades I borrowed it was a bit washed out and without anything made a green refraction?

I did. I was pretty opaque at #20 on the lens. Prolly better protected then the glasses everybody else used. If I hadn't found the extra #10 lens, I would not have looked.

Might be the last eclipse of that kind in my lifetime, didn't want to miss out on all the history in the making.

You have seen so much history in your day, it raises questions on how things really were vs the history books like how well did Lewis and Clark really treat each other or how did dodo bird taste?

I went outside with all my coworkers and borrowed a pair of eclipse glasses... I looked at it for a total of maybe 10 seconds, thought 'oh, that's neat' and was over it.

Maybe I'm just young and dumb or something? I most definitely would not have travelled to see it.

The people that traveled to it went to a place in the path of totality.

Huge difference in experience between that and the 97% we experienced here.

Good point. I'm in Pueblo, so it was even less than that. Ehh, I still don't know, though. Maybe it was in someplace I already wanted to go to, so not just for the eclipse. There's one in New Zealand in 2028, I've always wanted to go there...

I was like this is the stupidest thing I've ever seen people get excited about. Seed germination is cooler than that was and happens everyday. I don't see the world gathering around to watch grass grow!

Eh, I'm a natural science dork so I really enjoyed it.

I even brought my colander to my daughter's school for the eclipse viewing :)

Thanks guys, I would expect nothing less from the over 40 crowd.
Watching grass grow is becoming more and more popular with me.
Thats pretty cool. This was the first time I ever saw the crescents in the tree shade, learned something today.

Alliance. Home of Carhenge. Except I didn't go to Carhenge because it was farther away from the center of the path of totality. Also, parking there was more expensive and probably had more people.

All in all, I got really lucky because the lot was reservation-only (I didn't have one), but this morning no one showed up because the area had heavy fog so it was a really thin crowd. Once the sun came up, the fog lifted and the clouds cleared and I had a great show.

Even managed to catch some prominences by accident

That's really cool! I asked, because I make that drive nearly once a week. FTC->Sterling->Scottsbluff. Thank god for vacation time. No Wyoming, no Western Nebraska this week!
