I will buy the ST MAXX again for sure. Duracraps failed me by busting 2 sidewalls on a load range E tire. Completely unacceptable in my book.

I’d buy the MAXX again too. Nothing but good experiences with them for me.

Damn, that sucks. I know the company my neighbor works for, Xactly, was hiring a couple of months back in basically every department, software engineers, analysts, HR, sales, etc, etc. I know nothing of the company itself though.

Do share how this happened. I've only ever heard 4th+ hand accounts of sidewall issues.

Pieces of junk! They were okay when new but were terrible with half tread. And then I ran over a pebble...

Let em hate. I'm no ktm fan boy. Good bike but I probably will be buying something different next time.

Nahh, probably end up getting rid of the bike sooner than later.

Fast wear, most expensive, wasn't impressed by the road manners. I liked the KO2's much more in every way except off road. Even then I think the coopers were only a tiny bit better.

All this tire talk...FWIW I ran BFG KO’s on my Tacoma and they worked great in everything I threw at them. Off-road, snow packed icy roads, and deep snow. I ran KBro2’s on my 4Runner Trail and had the same experience. My brother is running STT Pro’s and hasn’t been super impressed with wear or noise, but loves them otherwise. I’m currently running Toyo Open Country MT’s and except for the weight, they’re the best tire I’ve owned. Great traction off road, tough sidewalls, minimal on road noise, are wearing well after 20K miles and handle icy snow pack well for an MT...but what do I know :notsure:

Since we are critiquing tires here, absolutely the worst tire for the snow hands down. I ran those two years ago, raved about them as well and pretty much had the truck parked for the winter when it really started to get slick and drove the work van because it was safer.
    :D
They do have exceptional sidewall strength and laugh at sharp edged rocks. But in the snow they sucked. I literally removed them with 75% tread left and sold them for cheap just to be rid of them.

I can't find the pics but both of mine were side walls blows. ONE from a small rock on Kingston and the other just rolling down a 2 lane road. Possibly the sidewall was weakened by a trail run earlier that day. They were good in snow but my ST MAXX are just as good. Sucked ice like everything does except a Michelin. :D

Well i could just as easily say mine were ripped open by a small rock.... But it was pinch flat opened by a tiny edge of a submerged rock. Maybe 4" sticking above the ground. The same one that opened the same sidewall of whatever coopers that @kashtyaatsi has.

But I caught that tiny rock with enough force to completely jolt the truck and dent the rim. This was while we were cruising off the bottom of Morrison. Again, I can't fault any tire for not surviving that type of force/impact. I'll see if i can find a picture of that pathetic rock.

You hit any decent sized rock at the perfect speed and angle and it'll tear a sidewall. When on our Dino run across NW Colorado a Wrangler tagged a rock along the side of the road and it opened up his sidewall completely, nobody else hit it at the same angle and we were cruising. They were whatever ones come stock on them (but a decent off-road tire).

This was the rock, actually, closest to camera. Solid AF, you can see the white mark that was from my rim. You could see the tire marks, we hit the last inch or two.

We were driving the other way (it's a left corner) in the blowing rain at a decent clip trying to get off the trail. I was looking for/grabbing my ham when I got too close and hit it. Not sharp or anything special, just hit it with too much speed.

I get the wear part because it’s a real soft rubber. Which in return they don’t harden up in snow, ice or cold weather. They grip really well. That’s why I love the pros. As for the noise I can’t really say because I just listen to the radio. They really are not that loud as some people say they are. But hey my hearing is going out too :p

The one on Kingston was litterally a small loose rock that my aired down duracrap rolled over and it punctured the side wall. This was on the decent down to fall river road. The rock was still in the tire! Its now in my backyard. It's about 3" long and maybe 2" wide.

I too hit a large planted rock with my Hercules tires and busted a sidewall on a different trip. I cannot blame the tire for that one. I blame @teamhypoxia. :D

But in the instance above... thats just the crappy sidewalls of a duracrap.

@teamhypoxia I've been meaning to ask, which LTX's did you have? There appear to be 4 tires with that designation:
    1) LTX A/T2 which seem beefier than I remember your treads being
    2) LTX M/S2 which I think is maybe what you had
    3) LTX Winter which is maybe a different tread compound but looks like the M/S2's
    4) Defender LTX M/S which is newer and I think is meant to replace the M/S2's

I thought he was talking about the AT3's? The Maxx seem like a great tire, I just don't off-road enough to justify getting such an aggressive tire.
