Moving away to somewhere smaller and quieter only makes that destination larger and more hectic.

yeah its stupid right now I'm curious what's going to happen with the new property tax law that limits the amount of deductions we can take on 2017 almost makes less attractive to buy, but time will tell.

Yep, I think Mountain Property could take a big hit with this, but what do I know about that $1M stuff. Still haven't even bought a lotto ticket yet.

So i may be an idiot?

I believe my noise may not be my rear end. I believe the noise is coming from the front end and does get worse on higher speed longer turns.............

Worst case at 120K i replaced my wheel bearings....

If you buy the Keg we can all meet up in parking lot somewhere and you play Nascar and we will drink and tell you where we thing the noise is coming from?

If Ray Ray (@SilverGhost) flags you over to drive and hands you his beer, your truck might be making way more noises post meet-up. :D

The question is if I am looking for land and ultimately another house to live in. Would it be better to rent out my current house that I bought 2 1/2 years ago for $155k or sell it. Thinking I can get $1200-1300 a month rent (mortgage is $920 with insurance and taxes) or try to sell it for $200-220k? It's a 2/1 with a 1 car garage in Granby 30mins from winter park resort.

Multiple income streams always wins over the buy and sell home-rship most do. Long time ago, a Professor pointed out that over half of the people listed got there via real estate "investing" category.

If you can swing it, hang onto it and rent it out. Only thing that would concern me is 2x property tax. But if leasing covers it and then some, I'd go for it. I'd look into homestead laws, if you aren't familiar with them already.

    I'm eventually moving somewhere quieter.

But you just have to accept the fact that the incumbent locals are going to call you out for being the arsehole d-bag that ruined their town. :)

Tax wise on Rental- Mortgage Interest and Property taxes are an expense, thus only effect with current tax change is lowering the tax on this pass through business income. Now I should put disclaimer on tax advice that every PWC, E&Y, etc include in every e-mail they send me at work...
