Just had a great customer service experience with a company (not Toyota or off-road related) that may help others so I thought I’d share.

I have had trash service through waste management at my house for the last 5+ years. They have reliably picked up the trash and recycling and initially the price was very reasonable and competitive. Over time the bill has increased (as all utilities seem to do), but when I got my most recent bill I decided to check and see what alternatives are out there. To my surprise Republic offered the exact same service to my address for less than half the price waste management was charging me. So I called them up to cancel my service. The woman who answered the phone was very nice and did not try and placate me with a small price adjustment or anything else like that. She simply asked that I allow her to transfer me to a different department which could see about adjusting my current and future bills. I thought “oh here we go”, but I was in a pretty good mood and she hadn’t done anything to piss me off so I decided to go with it and was transferred.

The next lady was also very friendly and asked how she could help. I explained the situation and she offered me the small price decrease I was expecting from the first lady. I politely declined. She then asked me which other company I was considering and what rate were they offering and told me they could match it. I gave her the info and fully expected her to say they couldn’t match the price, but to my surprise she said no problem.

All in all the call took less than 10 minutes total, my bill was reduced by nearly 60%, and throughout the whole process I exclusively dealt with helpful and friendly people who spoke English as their native language. I very positive experience and I am happy to continue giving them my business as a result. I will however continue to monitor my bills to ensure the price doesn’t get so far above the competition in the future.

TL : DR - Waste management bill was getting ridiculous. Called customer service to cancel service, expecting the worst. Customer service was exceptional and price-matched the competition no questions asked.
