I'd never even heard there was a debate (but then I haven't had to deal with it so hadn't really researched, just knew the spec). I did to a double check since it seemed kind of low to me too. I'm not sure if that link is based on the same version of the docs I have locally (probably), but eh, there it was. Guess it could be a type-o reversal. Two and a half times spec seemed a little much though, and while I know little about metals I would think over-tightening (at some point) would be just as bad as under-tightening. But the word of a tech who modifies and clearly knows his shit is good enough for me. I guess I'd go 85 then? I mean, if that's what it takes to hold the wheels on, should be good to hold the axle on too right?

Owner of the truck showed up and things went down hill. This is why we can't have nice things.

I’m sure 85 would be sufficient. I never thought about crushing axle tubes like Bryan said but ever since my flip kit has been on mine have been torqued 90-100 with no issue.

Thanks fellas! Looks like both of you are a ways out. I’m in the Arvada/Wheat Ridge area. If no one else comes to the rescue I’ll pick one up before my next off-roading adventure. Seeing that video freaked me the Fook out!! Lol

Last October Slee installed my new suspension. When I picked up the truck, Ben told me to check torque on the U-Bolts after 500 miles and make sure they are at 90 ft-lbs. Today's posts motivated me to actually check my U-Bolt torques and they needed tightening to 90 ft-lbs. FWIW - I asked him, before the install, about flipping the U-Bolts and he recommend not to do it due to the potential to crush axle tubes. So I have the standard U-bolt setup.

I'm curious to why the 4 guys off to the side didnt say anything about his whole axle in his rear fender before they continued to pull it. I really hoped y'all would tell me to stop if my tires are at my back doors hahah

I went out and retorqued mine since I never did after I installed my lift. I did the torque part, just forgot the 'retorque after 500 miles' part.

Weirdly, drivers side was good, but all four nuts on the passenger side needed a quarter to a half turn.

LMAOOO that's what i say too. Leave it to the guys that know what they are doing. Honestly man I flew in a buddy and he has a little more knowledge than I do and helped me complete this.

I say you just find you a dude that knows how to frame and you can do the sheet rock yourself with a drill, nails, sharpie, and box cutter. I can help you with the sheet rock and all that jazz. Framing is what I just learned how to do over this project

For those who change their own oil, where do you dispose of it? Just any oil change shop? Does it have to be in a sealed container or anything? Let me know what the best method is. Thanks
