Ah, when i drove past i saw one group of bikes that went up (i think) Pearl pass and only a few other vehicles.

Just wait until they realize how muddy they can get their new 4500cc side by sides when they tear up your stream.

I’m not sure I could handle seeing visitors regularly tearing up habitat like that, year after year. People are either too dumb or just don’t care.

No, that was Black Bear IIRC.

That was one idiot driving off trail, which obviously is bad, but what I saw was a bypass around a snow drift that was used by countless SxS for quite a while.

Pearl Pass is probably the quietest road in the area, let's keep it that way. Not quite Taylor park, but you can connect all that together.

That being said, I do want to take the KTM down that way this summer and ride some of the high-alpine single track in the area that's suppose to be awesome.

Cottonwood pass has always been extremely busy with vehicle traffic.

Wish the FS would've let me know if they found those other clowns in your neck of the woods.

I saw that last year when we did Tin Cup, Hancock, and another trail (that's escaping me right now).

If you did Hancock from N to S, guessing Tomichi.

I think Old Brett wanted to kill me after convincing him to drive that road.

It's a fun drive for sure. Don't think I would take the Tundra on it though. It's pretty damn narrow shelf road, off-camber, and there's a totaled car down the hill to remind you of what happens when you mess up.

    See above.

Hancock is FR295, correct? It was an in and out trail that tracks south for the most part. It starts with a decent climb and quasi shelf road and then you're on the west side of a valley with Mt Pomeroy to the east. Trail ends at a dead end/turn around with a foot trail that takes you to Hancock Lake.

Why did he want to kill you? I thought it was a nice mellow road that was beautiful at the top. We camped just below tree line. FYI I saw the single greatest meteor in my life that night. Thought for sure I was going to hear a huge bang/crash. It light up the valley so much we were blinded for a second.

There was a 1st gen DC Tundra that followed us up the road. The kids in it were blazed to the max.

You're talking about that off camber shelf road with the vehicle remains at the base aren't you...
    Yeah, wasn't a favorite.
Was really just the one section at the beginning. The rest was fine, would do it again.

Correct on the road number, but that road goes through. Where the hike starts to the Tunnel and the lake, you can keep going to the pass. There is a couple out and back offshoots though, one of which goes to Pomeroy lakes.

The road we're talking about starts on the south side of the pass.

Oh I do remember the road forking well below the dead end... or am I not remembering that correctly? We just went in and out seeing it was our last night camping. The next morning we did the Alpine Tunnel hike so we didn't want to venture too far into FR295.

Yeah Tundra isn't planning to see much wheeling unless it's easy stuff and wide enough.

I am really digging the idea of throwing a slide in camper into the back of a suburban/excursion idea though. Access it from inside the cab as well as rear would be nice vs throwing it on a truck. But it'll be built for the second round of my road trip, no narrow or rock crawling needed.
